Closures, linings and the extra touches

For every brand that needs to own the shelf before it's touched.
Cosmetics & Fragrance Packaging
Holiday collections and limited-edition launches in holographic and chrome packaging. The visual event on a cosmetics shelf. The package photographs well and earns social reach without a media budget.
The finish that owns the shelf.
Custom metalized packaging in holographic, chrome, and metallic foil boxes that create shelf dominance in cosmetics, spirits, and premium retail.
Why metallic packaging converts at shelf.
Metalized finishes increase perceived value by 35% before a single feature is read.
The reflective advantage
A metalized package catches light in an environment where every other package competes for attention with static colour. In a cosmetics aisle, a spirits shelf, or a jewellery display, a metallic finish creates a visual hierarchy, and the eye finds it first. That advantage is not reserved for luxury brands. Any brand willing to invest in the material gets the same structural edge.
Perceived value lifts are measurable
Consumer research by Packaging Digest found that metalized packaging increases perceived product value by an average of 35% compared to non-metallic equivalents at the same price point. For brands competing on perceived quality rather than price, this is the single highest-return packaging investment available.
The holographic moment
Holographic foil, the iridescent surface that shifts colour with viewing angle, has moved from novelty to mainstream premium in the last five years. Cosmetics brands, spirits labels, and confection packaging use holographic foil as a brand signature. The surface is photographable, shareable, and immediately premium without additional words.
Metalized BOPP, foil laminate, and chrome board.
Every metallic substrate, with the trade-offs stated plainly.
Metalized BOPP film laminate
A biaxially oriented polypropylene film with vacuum-deposited aluminium on one side. Laminated to paperboard to create a bright metallic surface with the structural performance of coated board. Available in silver (the base standard), gold (warm deposited tone), rose gold, and black. Printable with UV inks for overprinted designs, where the metallic background shows through transparent ink areas.
Holographic and patterned film
Holographic films in standard rainbow, linear, dots, diamond, and custom-pattern options. The pattern is embossed into the BOPP substrate before metallisation, which creates the iridescent shift that defines holographic packaging. For limited editions, seasonal releases, and brand signature finishes.
Chrome and mirror-finish board
Electrodeposited chrome effect on a paper base, the highest-mirror-quality metallic surface available in packaging. Used for premium spirits, watches, automotive accessories, and technology packaging. The surface reflection is sharp enough to see a clear image, creating a packaging format that functions as a mirror.
Full-box metallic or metallic accent, with every option covered.
From full foil wraps to spot metallic details.
Full metallic surface
The entire exterior surface in metalized laminate, whether full box, full tube, or full bag. The most impactful shelf presence available. Overprinted with brand typography, product name, and design elements in UV or conventional inks. The metallic base shows through light colour applications for a luminous, depth-layered print effect.
Metallic accent on matt or soft-touch
Matt-laminated base with hot foil logo, metallic band, or metallic interior reveal. The contrast of a soft-touch matte surface against a foil logo or foil panel creates a more considered, luxury aesthetic than all-over metallic. This combination, used by premium beauty and spirits brands, reads as elegant rather than showy.
Holographic elements
Holographic security seal · holographic label overlay on a standard box · holographic inner tray lining · full holographic tube or box exterior. Holographic elements can be integrated at any coverage level, from a subtle brand accent to a full-surface statement.
Cosmetics, spirits, jewellery, and tech.
The categories where metallic packaging pays.
Cosmetics and fragrance
Holiday collections, limited editions, and premium launches. Holographic or chrome packaging that creates a visual event on the shelf and in the unboxing. The Beauty industry's seasonal metallic releases for Christmas, Valentine's, and summer are the highest-volume application for metalized packaging in the US market.
Spirits and premium beverages
Limited-edition metallic tubes, foil-stamped gift boxes, and chrome-finish carrier packaging for whiskey, vodka, and champagne. The metallic finish communicates premium and celebratory, the two cues that the spirits category sells against.
Jewellery and watches
Chrome-finish rigid boxes, holographic inner liners, and metallic paper bags for high-end jewellery and timepiece retail. The reflective surface mirrors the product inside, so a chrome box suits a silver watch and a gold metallic box suits a yellow-gold ring.
Electronics and technology
Metallic retail boxes and premium packaging for consumer electronics accessories. The tech category uses metallic packaging to signal precision engineering and innovation, so the packaging carries the same cues as the product category.
Questions, answered.
Foil stamping applies metallic foil only where a die touches. Metallised board is metallic across the entire sheet, with the design printed over it.
Stamping gives crisp, controlled metallic elements against a non-metallic background. Metallised board gives an all-over metallic ground where unprinted areas shine through. They produce quite different effects and cost structures, and the choice depends on whether the metallic is an accent or the field.
Hot foil uses a heated die and gives the crispest edges and deepest lustre. Cold foil is applied inline using an adhesive image and can be overprinted with CMYK.
That overprinting is cold foil's real advantage, because it produces coloured and gradient metallics that hot foil cannot. Hot foil needs a die per design, a fixed cost that amortises across the run. Cold foil scales better at volume but is less crisp on fine detail.
Almost always too much of it. Foil works through contrast and scarcity.
A logo in gold on a dark matte ground reads as expensive because the eye has something to measure the metal against. A carton covered in gold reads as cheap because there is no reference point. Restraint here is the technique rather than a budget compromise, and it is the single most common correction in premium packaging design.
Uncoated and textured stocks, where the foil sinks slightly into the fibre, and soft-touch laminate, where the contrast is maximal.
On uncoated paper the foil sits with a slight impression that catches light differently from the surrounding sheet. Against soft-touch, the tactile difference reinforces the visual one. Glossy laminates give the least differentiation, since the surrounding surface is already reflective.
Through diffraction rather than reflection. A microscopically embossed surface splits light into its spectrum, so the colour shifts as the pack moves.
That movement is the whole effect. The practical constraint is legibility. Diffraction makes a surface visually busy, so text needs a solid printed background, and barcodes laid over holographic areas frequently fail to scan. That failure shows up at the till rather than on the proof.
Neither. They occupy different registers. Gold reads warm, traditional and celebratory, and silver reads cool, modern and technical.
Technology, contemporary cosmetics and premium spirits tend toward silver, while heritage and indulgence categories lean gold. One practical difference: silver shows fingerprints more readily than gold, because the cooler, brighter surface reveals oils that a warm tone partly hides. Keep that in mind for packaging handled at a retail counter.
Foil-stamped board generally can, because the foil coverage is small relative to the fibre. Fully metallised board is more of a problem.
Metallised film laminated to board makes a mixed-material item that many paper streams reject. Metallised paper, where the metallic layer is applied directly and thinly, performs better. If recyclability matters to the claim, foil stamping on plain board is the route that keeps it honest.
500 units, plus a one-time foil die charge for hot stamping.
The die is machined per design and reused on reorders. Cold foil and metallised board carry no die charge but have their own setup considerations. Lead time is 7–10 business days, with foil and emboss combinations sometimes adding a few days for the additional press pass.
