Silver Foil Boxes
Silver reads cool, modern and technical where gold reads warm and traditional, so the choice is really about positioning.
The processes are identical to gold; the register is not. Technology, contemporary cosmetics and premium spirits reach for silver, and heritage and indulgence categories stay with gold.

Every detail. Intentional.
A different register
Cool and precise rather than warm and celebratory.
Shows fingerprints more
The brighter surface reveals what gold disguises.
Silver on soft-touch black
Among the most effective pairings in packaging.
Brushed and matte options
Machined metal rather than mirror.
Holographic extends it
The same cool family, with diffraction.
Restraint applies equally
Coverage still dilutes the effect.

Built like architecture.
Every order of Silver Foil Boxes is an engineered build, measured, dieline-cut and hand-wrapped to spec. Below is the standard build sheet.

Sizing & dieline.
We cut Silver Foil Boxes to a dieline built around your product instead of pulling a stock size off the shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points. Measure the product, not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Silver Foil Boxes per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Silver Foil Boxes.
Yes, more than gold does, because the brighter, cooler surface shows skin oils that a warm gold tone hides. On a pack that lives in a drawer or a gift bag it rarely matters.
It matters on counter displays and tester packs that get picked up all day. There we'd use an anti-fingerprint laminate, or keep the silver away from the spots where a hand naturally grips the box.
Yes, brushed and matte silver foils give a machined-metal look instead of a mirror shine. They suit brands that want silver to read as precise and technical, more like a laptop lid than a trophy.
Mirror silver still has the most flash under shop lighting. We'd pick brushed for boxes that get handled a lot, since the texture is more forgiving of fingerprints and light scuffs.
Yes, metallised board makes the entire sheet silver, and we print over it to leave chosen areas bright. Areas printed in white or colour cover the metal, so silver shows only where the design leaves it open.
We'd still hold back on coverage. Silver follows the same rule as gold, and a box that's metallic on every panel loses the contrast that makes the metal look valuable.
Silver on soft-touch black is one of the most effective pairings in packaging, and it's the one we'd suggest first. The velvety black ground soaks up light, so the foil is the only bright thing on the panel.
Deep greys, navy and clean white stocks also work for a cooler palette. Silver sits naturally with technology, contemporary cosmetics and premium spirits, where a warm gold can feel too traditional.
Both are possible, through a hot foil emboss for a raised mark or a holographic foil for a rainbow shift. Holographic sits in the same cool family as silver, so it reads as an extension of the look and not a change of direction.
On a small logo we'd choose one or the other. Raised holographic foil on a small mark usually gets busy, and the relief is hard to see through the colour shift.
They're fully custom, so we size them to your product instead of a catalogue list. Give us the length, width and height of the item, and we add clearance for an insert and for the board thickness.
The foil can go on a folding carton, a rigid box or a magnetic-closure gift box, with print on the inside if you want it. A quick measurement of the product at its widest points is usually enough to start the dieline.
Our silver foil runs begin at 500 boxes. From there you can scale to as many as 100,000 on the same artwork and tooling.
For a limited edition or a seasonal pack, 500 keeps the commitment small while you see how the silver performs on shelf. Reorders reuse the die, which keeps the setup side of the cost down.
Samples arrive in 5 to 7 business days, and full production follows in 7 to 10 business days after approval. A rush schedule of 5 to 7 business days is available when the date is tight.
The sample is where you check fingerprints on handled panels and the sharpness of the foil edge. What you pay for it is deducted from the production run, and we deliver to addresses across the USA.
