Custom Cigar Boxes.

A boîte nature is plain wood with the grain showing and the brand burned or printed straight on, while a dressed box is covered in printed paper, bands and seals. The natural box is the premium construction and relies on joinery and finish. The dressed box carries the lithographed lid art cigar boxes are known for.

We build both, along with lighter board versions for bundles and volume counts.

A close-fitting lid holds moisture inside the box, while a gap lets it escape. For that reason we cut hinge lids and slide lids to a tight fit and keep the wood thick enough not to warp.

Wood also breathes a little, which buffers small changes in humidity. A cedar lining adds to that and carries its own aroma. For long shelf life, a humidity pack can go in with the cigars.

We make cigar boxes in paulownia, birch plywood, MDF and balsa, with a Spanish cedar lining where you want the traditional interior. Paulownia is light and stable, birch ply is stronger for larger counts, and MDF gives a smooth face for paint.

Other wood species are available on request. For a painted or lacquered finish we'd use MDF, and for a natural stain we'd go with paulownia or birch, where the grain shows through.

Yes, laser engraving is the most common way to brand a natural wood box, and it burns the mark into the lid so it can't wear off. Screen printing suits solid-colour logos, and painted or stained finishes set the base tone.

For a dressed box, we print paper labels for the lid, edges and seal. Branded hinges, clasps and a magnetic closure finish the hardware. Felt or velvet can line the inside of gift and presentation boxes.

A 25-count box is typically about 9 × 7 × 2 in, and a 10-count about 8 × 5 × 1.5 in. The exact size depends on the vitola, meaning the ring gauge and length of the cigar, since a wide, short cigar and a long churchill need different interiors.

Tell us the vitola and count, and we'll set the inside length and depth so the cigars lie snug without being pressed. Custom dividers are available for mixed samplers.

Wooden cigar boxes start at 500 units. For a boutique brand, a common approach is one box size across the whole range, with a different label or engraving for each blend.

That keeps the woodwork consistent on the shelf while the lids tell the blends apart. Quotes go up to 100,000 units for larger releases.

Wood boxes are built in 7 to 10 business days from approved artwork, or in 5 to 7 on a rush. Samples need the same 5 to 7 business days as a rush order.

We recommend one on wood especially, because stain colour and engraving depth vary with the grain and are best judged on the real timber. The sample cost comes off your order when you go to production.

A solid wood box handles stacking and handling far better than board, which is part of why cigar boxes outlast their contents. Corners and hinges are the weak points, so we fit hardware sized to the weight of the lid.

For shipping, the box should go in a snug outer carton so the lid and hinges aren't knocked. A tamper-evident seal across the lid shows the customer the box hasn't been opened since it left you.
