Auto-lock Bottom Gable Boxes
The base nobody worries about until it opens, so we solve it before the handle.
Pre-glued flaps lock as the box erects, spreading load across the full base panel. Pair it with a reinforced handle, because a strong handle over a weak base just relocates the failure.

Every detail. Intentional.
The base fails as often
And it is the failure people do not plan for.
Locked before it is filled
One motion at the bench, then loaded.
Faster during service
Hundreds assembled without hand-folding a base.
Pair it with the handle
Or the weakest link is simply moved.
Two pounds is the threshold
Bottles, cupcakes, filled gift bundles.
Test in motion
Lift and walk, because that is when it gives.

Built like architecture.
Every order of Auto-lock Bottom Gable Boxes is an engineered build, measured, dieline-cut and hand-wrapped to spec. Below is the standard build sheet.

Sizing & dieline.
We cut Auto-lock Bottom Gable Boxes to a dieline built around your product instead of pulling a stock size off the shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points. Measure the product, not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Auto-lock Bottom Gable Boxes per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Auto-lock Bottom Gable Boxes.
The base flaps are pre-glued at our end, so the floor locks into shape as soon as the flat box is pushed open. The folded panels hook into each other and the whole base panel carries the load, where a tuck flap only holds by friction.
Nobody hand-folds a base at the bench. One motion squares the box and it's ready to fill, which counts for a lot when a counter is building hundreds of them during a busy lunch.
A gable box can fail at the handle or at the base, and strengthening only one of them moves the failure to the other. A heavy-duty handle over a tuck bottom lets the floor push open mid-carry. A locked floor under a thin handle cut invites tear-out at the peak.
So on this style we cut the reinforced handle die and the pre-glued base as a pair, and we'd advise ordering both together.
We'd move to the auto-lock floor once your filled weight gets close to two pounds. Glass bottles, a box of cupcakes and packed gift bundles all reach that point sooner than most people guess.
A tuck bottom often survives being lifted and set straight back down. The trouble starts when someone walks off with the box swinging from its handle, and the bouncing load pushes the tuck flap out.
We print CMYK on natural kraft or white coated board, and add a grease-resistant coating for food work. Kraft takes a bold one- or two-colour design well, and white coated board is the better base for photos and soft colours.
For bakery and catering orders we can also run a food-safe PE coating or a grease-proof liner inside, which keeps butter and frosting from bleeding through to the printed outside.
Give us the length, width and height of the box body, and say whether that height includes the handle. Two common sizes on this style are 6 x 3.5 x 7 inches and 10 x 5 x 9 inches, though we cut any size.
Measure the contents as they will actually be packed, including any tray or wrap, and allow some room at the shoulders where the roof panels fold inward. The dieline proof then lists body height and overall height together.
Yes, the run starts at 500 boxes. The pre-glued base does not raise that minimum, and the same tooling carries you up to 100,000 pieces if a single shop turns into several.
Dieline and artwork help costs nothing at any quantity, and finished boxes ship to any address in the USA.
A sample takes 5 to 7 business days, and the full run follows in 7 to 10 business days once you approve it. If a date is tight, rush production brings that down to 5 to 7 business days. The fee for the gable box sample is credited back once the full run is ordered.
Use the sample properly. Load it to your real weight, lift it by the handle and walk it around the room, since the motion is what makes a weak base give way.
Yes, we offer a compostable version on sugarcane board as well as recyclable kraft and coated stock. Plain kraft goes into the household paper bin without any trouble.
A PE food-safe coating keeps grease in check but can make recycling harder depending on the local facility. If disposal matters more to you than grease hold-out, ask us to sample the sugarcane board next to the coated kraft and compare them loaded.
