Rigid Invitation Boxes
A card, a keepsake and a mailing piece, and invitation packaging has to be all three at once.
Boxed invitations arrive in the post and get displayed on a mantelpiece. Postal survivability and presentation quality have to coexist in one small object.

Every detail. Intentional.
Posted, then displayed
Two very different duties.
Flat and rigid
Bending ruins the card.
Wax seals and ribbon
Applied by hand, at volume.
Postal dimensions matter
Postage steps up at a limit.
Insert holds the card flat
No movement in transit.
Kept as a memento
Which raises the standard.

Built like architecture.
Every order of Rigid Invitation Boxes is an engineered build, measured, dieline-cut and hand-wrapped to spec. Below is the standard build sheet.

Sizing & dieline.
We cut Rigid Invitation Boxes to a dieline built around your product instead of pulling a stock size off the shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points. Measure the product, not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Rigid Invitation Boxes per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Rigid Invitation Boxes.
The box is made from 2 mm rigid board wrapped in printed art paper or a specialty stock, with a telescoping lid that lifts off the base. The board doesn't flex, so the card inside arrives flat, and the shallow depth keeps the piece close to stationery proportions.
Recycled chipboard is available for the core if you want recycled fibre. The wrap is where the colour and texture come from.
Yes, a stepped insert seats each card on its own platform in the order the guest should read them. The invitation sits on top with the RSVP and details cards beneath, and the stack stays put while the box travels.
We size the platforms from your printed card dimensions, so send the final stationery sizes before we cut the insert.
Ribbon pulls and ribbon bands are built in, and wax seals go over the ribbon or directly on the lid. Magnetic flaps and slide-out drawers aren't offered on this box, so ribbon is the main closure detail.
Seals and ribbons are applied by hand, which adds time on larger runs. Tell us the count at quote stage and we'll plan it into the schedule.
We finish the box the way the stationery is finished, so the foil colour and emboss depth follow your card. Soft-touch matte and linen-textured wraps sit close to cotton paper, and a blind emboss of a monogram on the lid carries the letterpress feel across.
Every order is personalised with names and a date, so we proof the foil copy line by line before the plate is made.
Single invitations usually fit a 6 × 4.5 × 1 in box, and a full suite takes around 7 × 5 × 2 in. Postage steps up at certain size and thickness limits, so check the packed box against your carrier's rates before you commit to a depth.
Every rigid invitation box should travel in an outer mailer, so leave room in the postal budget for that layer as well.
Yes, the minimum on this box is just 30 pieces. That covers a small wedding or a private dinner guest list, and the same setup scales to 100,000 for a corporate launch.
Because every box carries the host's own names and date, we treat each order as a custom job, and a short run gets the same proofing as a large one.
We produce invitation boxes in 7 to 10 business days from artwork approval, or 5 to 7 business days on rush. A made-up sample with your wrap and insert takes 5 to 7 business days, and its cost is deducted from the order.
Invitations go out months ahead of the event, so count back from the mailing date and allow extra time for hand-applied seals and ribbons.
It will when it ships inside an outer mailer, which we recommend for every order. The rigid walls stop the card bending, but the wrapped paper surface can scuff or dent at the corners if it travels bare through sorting machines.
Guests often keep these boxes with other memorabilia, so arriving unmarked matters. We can quote a shipper sized to fit the box.
