They are three separate products that share a name, and each is priced and tooled differently. A single carton is a folding box for one item. A palette is shallow and wide with a magnetic lid and often a mirror, while a kit box carries a cavity insert for several pieces.

Tell us which one you mean at the start. Most quotes that come back looking wrong were written against the wrong format.

A palette lid spans a wide, shallow footprint, and below 2mm it bows and stops sitting flush on the base. Around 6 × 4 in is a typical palette, and that much unsupported lid needs the stiffer board to stay flat against the pull of the magnet.

A bonded mirror adds weight but also stiffens the lid, which is why we ask about it before fixing the board.

Yes, we bond the mirror into the inside of the lid during assembly. It adds rigidity and it adds weight, so it has to be specified before the board and the closure are settled.

Adding a mirror after the structure is signed off usually means redrawing the lid. Mention it in your first brief even if you are still deciding.

Paperboard photographs better and keeps the whole pack single-material, while EVA foam holds irregular shapes more securely. In a category sold on unboxing videos, the insert decides what the customer sees first when the lid comes up.

We would use folded board for regular components like compacts and tubes, and die-cut foam when odd-shaped tools need gripping. A clear PET tray is the third option.

Soft-touch is the finish most people choose, because a palette is held open in the hand every time it is used. A wide flat lid also takes embossing and debossing far better than a narrow carton panel does.

Spot UV often runs as a gloss pattern across the whole lid, and hot foil on the brand mark is standard at every price level. Painted edges on a rigid lid show each time it opens.

A palette usually lands around 6 × 4 × 0.6 in, and a kit box around 8 × 6 × 2 in with its insert. Single cartons are sized to the one item inside, so there is no standard size for those.

We draw the palette from your pan layout and the kit from the actual components, then send a dieline for you to check before anything is printed.

The order minimum is 500 boxes. For seasonal palettes, keeping one tooled size and changing only the printed wrap lets every version share the same die, so you pay for new print instead of new tooling.

Four seasonal wraps on one structure come out far cheaper than four separate structures, and the 128 to 157gsm litho wrap is where those changes happen.

Plan on 7 to 10 business days of production after proof approval. A rush slot cuts that to 5 to 7 business days, depending on the schedule when you order.

A pre-production sample takes 5 to 7 business days, and it is the moment to check that the mirror sits flat and the magnet closes cleanly. What you pay for the sample comes off the production invoice.
