We recommend 20pt SBS for mascara, with 18pt as the practical floor for short, light tubes. Under an inch square and over four inches tall, the carton carries real load when cases are stacked.

For dark ranges, black-core board keeps the cut edges black instead of flashing white. Recycled PCW board works too, but step up a caliper to make up for its lower stiffness.

Around 1mm of total clearance is what we aim for. At that fit the rigid tube acts as a column inside the carton and takes a share of the stacking load off the board.

A loose carton loses that support, crushes more easily at the top panel and lets the tube rattle. Measure the tube with the wand seated, since oversized volumising wands have made many tubes taller than they used to be.

A perforated strip is cut into the tuck end, and the carton cannot be opened without tearing it away. It gives visible tamper evidence on a straight tuck carton, which some retailers set as a listing condition.

A glued flap is the simpler alternative. The flap is sealed shut at packing and tears the board when someone opens it.

Matte lamination is the usual answer, because it makes deep black read dense instead of grey. Spot UV over that matte black, often on the lash graphic, adds a shine that hints at volume.

On such a narrow panel, running the foil logo vertically works with the format. Gloss lamination is the tougher surface if cartons will rub against each other on a busy fixture.

A standard mascara carton is around 0.9 × 0.9 × 4.3 in inside, and an oversized wand usually needs about 1.1 × 1.1 × 5.0 in. Both are measured around the complete tube with the wand seated in it.

The standard size gives roughly 17 sq in of panel area, so the carton has room for the required marks as well as your front-panel design.

Yes, metallised board gives a mirror surface that is common across volumising and dramatic-lash ranges. We print white ink wherever colour needs to sit solid, and leave the board showing through wherever you want shine.

On a carton this small, one strong metallic panel can do the work of several finishes, so it often replaces foil altogether.

The lowest run we take on mascara cartons is 500 pieces. Because the format is so small, several shades or formulas are often laid out together on one press sheet, which keeps short runs sensible.
