Custom Ornament Boxes.

We suspend each piece so it never touches a wall or its neighbour. A die-cut cradle or foam ring holds the ornament at its widest point and keeps the cap and hanger clear of the sides.

For round glass we'd use foam rings. Flat ceramic or wooden pieces sit well in a die-cut board slot, which costs less and keeps the whole box in one material.

The storage standard is a dozen, laid out in a 12 x 9 x 4 inch box with divider cells. Each cell isolates one ornament, so a knock to the box doesn't send pieces into each other.

We can divide for six, nine or twenty-four when your set counts differ. Dividers need to reach at least the ornament's widest point to do their job.

That's what we build it for, since the box goes back into storage for eleven months of every year. Coated board handles attic damp better than uncoated stock, and a heavier wall resists the crushing that comes from other boxes stacked on top.

Carrying handles and a printed label panel on the end help at the January pack-away, when boxes get sorted by what's written on the outside.

Yes, commemorative type is common on dated and first-Christmas ornaments. A foil-stamped year on the lid or a debossed name reads as permanent, which matters for pieces that get kept for decades.

Seasonal ranges usually run full CMYK with a PMS red or green matched across the line. Spot UV and soft-touch lamination are both available for retail boxes.

A single box is commonly 4 x 4 x 4 inches, a cube that takes a standard ball ornament with its cradle. We size from the ornament at its widest, and from the cap to the top of the hanger loop for height.

Shaped pieces such as figures or stars often need a taller or flatter box. Send a sample or its measurements and we'll draw the cradle and the box together.

Five hundred boxes is where our ornament runs begin. Most seasonal buyers go above that, because the same box does the selling in the fourth quarter and the storing every January after that.

Single cubes and divided set boxes can carry the same artwork, which keeps a seasonal line matching from one box to the next.

Once artwork is approved, ornament boxes are made in 7 to 10 business days, with a 5 to 7 day rush if the season is close. A sample with the cradle cut to your actual ornament takes 5 to 7 business days, and for glass it's well worth doing.

Your sample payment is put toward the bulk invoice. Leave room in the calendar for a second sample if the first fit needs adjusting.

For dated or collectible pieces, rigid board with a satin interior is our pick. It holds its shape through years of stacking and handling, whereas a paperboard carton softens at the corners after a few seasons.

SBS paperboard is still the right call for gift-shop singles bought on impulse. The heirloom build makes sense when the box itself is kept with the ornament.
