Seed husks are abrasive and scrub thin film from the inside every time the bag is moved. We run a BOPP over PE laminate at 0.16 to 0.20 millimetres, chosen by the contents rather than the filled weight. Light-gauge film is not offered on this format.

Above 10 kilograms a woven PP laminate takes over, where tear strength matters more than print quality.

A moisture-barrier layer in the laminate keeps damp out of a bag that lives in a shed or garage for a season. Ambient moisture is the main risk to a mix in storage, so the film is chosen for that rather than for oxygen. A resealable zipper keeps a part-used bag closed between fills.

The seal is not fully airtight, which is normal for a heavy dry-goods bag, so the barrier layer does the work.

Under 2 kilograms a stand-up pouch, from 2 to 5 kilograms a flat bottom or side gusset, and above 5 kilograms a heavy-gauge side gusset. Gussets carry volume and give a standing presence at larger fills. A reinforced hang patch is standard so peg display does not tear out under a heavy bag, and a carry handle is added on the biggest formats.

Yes, and in this category it is close to expected: customers compare mixes by what they can see. A clear PET panel is set into the face without weakening the structure around it. Gloss lamination is the most common finish, suiting garden-centre and hardware retail, with matte reserved for premium blends.

Value ranges often print the face only and leave the back unprinted to cut cost.

A 9 by 14 inch side gusset bag carries a 5 pound fill and a 12 by 18 inch bag carries 10 pounds. Bags are measured flat, width by height, with the gusset depth listed separately. Because seed density varies between blends, we size from your bulk density and the target weight rather than the bag dimension alone.

Larger fills are quoted with the woven substrate.

Production begins at 500 bags for any size or style. Once an order passes 1,000 the tiered rates apply, up to 100,000 per run. Each fill size is its own run, so a 5 pound and a 10 pound bag are counted separately.

Window and non-window versions of the same bag are also treated as two runs.

Standard runs complete in 7 to 10 business days from artwork approval. A rush at 5 to 7 business days covers autumn stocking. Samples ship in 5 to 7 business days, and filling one with your heaviest mix before approving the gauge is the check we always suggest.

A kraft outer gives organic and no-mess ranges a natural face, but the laminate behind it is what keeps the seed dry. A BOPP over PE structure is not kerbside recyclable, and woven PP goes into specialist streams only. The trade is barrier and abrasion resistance against a disposal claim.

For a heavy bag stored in a damp shed, we would keep the laminate and make the claim on the outer paper.
