Skipping the bleaching stage leaves the long wood fibres intact, and those fibres are where kraft gets its tear strength. The bleaching process costs some of that strength, so a white bag at the same basis weight tears a little more easily.

That strength is the reason brown kraft still carries grocery loads and lunch orders. We supply it as virgin kraft for maximum strength or as a recycled kraft grade when recycled content matters more to you.

Flat merchandise bags have no gusset and suit light, thin items like cards, prints and small retail goods. The SOS lunch bag has a square base that stands open for filling, and the grocery sack is the same idea built bigger and heavier.

Paper weight follows the job. Lunch and flat bags run on 30 to 40lb kraft, while grocery sacks move up to 57 to 70lb so the base can carry cans and bottles.

The trade sizes brown bags by number, from #1 up to #25, with each number standing for a set capacity. The low numbers are small counter bags, and the sizes climb through the lunch range to the large sacks.

Dark ink on brown kraft gives strong contrast from a single plate, so a one-colour print carries a logo clearly without going to full colour. The stamp-style look has become the format's own style, and flexo is the method that runs it at volume.

If you do want more, CMYK exterior print, spot UV and foil stamping are all available. Some customers go the other way and leave the bag unprinted, adding a sticker or rubber stamp in store.

Uncoated brown kraft is recyclable and compostable, and both claims hold up because there is no film or plastic coating on the sheet. We can print a compostable mark on the bag so your customer knows how to dispose of it.

Adding lamination or a gloss finish changes that, so if the claim matters to you we'd keep the bag uncoated and let the kraft colour carry the design. Recycled kraft grades close the loop on the supply side.

Yes, we fit flat, twisted or loop handles to brown kraft bags. Twisted paper handles are the usual pick for retail, and flat handles are glued inside the top for a lower-profile finish.

Lunch and flat bags normally go without handles and fold over at the top, often along a serrated edge. A reinforced bottom comes standard on the handled builds, so the base doesn't give way before the handle does.

A minimum run of printed brown kraft bags is 500. That covers one size and one print, which is enough for a single shop to see how the bag works at the counter.
