We change the hinge so the lid needs a deliberate second action before it lifts. That can be a press-tab, a slide-lock or a hinged catch that engages a reinforced inner frame.

A flip-top was designed to open with one thumb, so the work is taking that ease away from a child while keeping the pack familiar to an adult. Try mock-ups on people who have never handled the pack, because designers already know the trick.

We use pack-grade carton board with enough weight to keep the catch from wearing loose. These packs get opened many times a day, and thin stock softens at the hinge until the lock stops engaging.

SBS gives the cleanest print and kraft suits a natural look. Every board we run for this pack is odour-neutral, so it doesn't pass a smell of its own to the contents.

We lay out the compliance panel first and fit the branding around it. State requirements can fill most of a pack that's barely two inches wide, so we reserve that area before any design work starts.

When the copy won't fit on the carton, a wrap label or a folded insert carries the overflow. We don't decide what wording is required, but we make sure the panel has room for the marks you need.

Matte lamination or soft-touch is the usual choice, and it gives the pack the quiet dispensary look buyers expect. Hot foil, embossing and spot UV add detail on the logo without crowding the warning space.

We print the opening instructions right next to the mechanism, and a tactile mark on the tab lets people find it by feel. Colours are matched with CMYK plus PMS.

A common format is about 2.2 × 0.9 × 3.4 in, close to a standard cigarette pack. We keep that pocket-sized footprint and fit the locking mechanism inside it, which does limit how bulky the catch can be.

Custom sizes are available for longer pre-rolls or different counts. Send us the product dimensions and the count per pack, and we'll draw the pack with the catch in place.

Orders start at 500 boxes. That's enough for a small dispensary launch, and it keeps the mechanism, board and size locked to the certified build.

Once the pack sells through, reorders can climb to 100,000 flip-tops on the same tooling without redesigning the hinge or the catch.

Production runs 7 to 10 business days after artwork sign-off, and rush production cuts that to 5 to 7. A sample pack takes 5 to 7 business days, long enough to check the catch and the hinge before you commit.

We use odour-neutral board and can add a humidity element to hold freshness for smokables. The humidity pack sits inside the inner frame, out of the way of the catch.

A tamper-evident seal over the lid keeps the pack closed until purchase. The carton board is recyclable, so the empty outer pack can go in with paper recycling.
