The standard clear structure is PET laminated to LLDPE. The PET layer gives the bag its clarity and stiffness, and the LLDPE inner layer is what melts to form the seal. There is no metallised or foil layer, which is why the contents are fully visible from both faces.

Clear PP is available where higher gloss and a little more stiffness are wanted, and a frosted film gives a semi-translucent version of the same build.

Clear film has no light barrier and a weaker oxygen barrier than a metallised or foil laminate. That is the trade for full visibility, and it means the format suits dry, stable goods that sell on appearance rather than anything with a long stated shelf life.

Light reaches the contents through the whole face, so for anything light-sensitive we would point you to a printed back panel or a metallised body instead.

Clear mylar bags run from 0.10 to 0.20 mm film gauge. The lighter end is fine for soft or powdered contents. Anything sharp, heavy or angular wants the heavy-gauge option, because puncture from the inside is the usual way a clear pouch fails in transit.

Heavier film also stands up straighter as a stand-up pouch and resists creasing on the shelf.

Yes, most clear bags carry a spot print that leaves the centre open. A logo block, a border or mandatory copy sits in one area and the rest of the film stays transparent. The other common route is a solid printed back panel, so the front shows the product and the reverse carries the information.

Metallic spot detail and a matte-printed panel against the gloss film both give contrast without closing the view.

The common sizes are 3 × 5, 4 × 6 and 6 × 9 inches. Width is taken across the face and length runs from the top seal to the base, with the gusset quoted separately on a stand-up version. Custom dimensions are made to the fill weight if none of the stock sizes suit, and a hang hole can be added to any of them.

Pick the closure by whether the bag is reopened. A press-to-close zipper suits anything used across several days, with a tear notch above it for the first opening. A plain heat seal is the cleaner choice for single-use packs and keeps the bag height lower.

Hang holes and a stand-up gusset are added at the same stage, and the mono-material PE option gives a recyclable clear build at some cost to clarity and stiffness.
