Overview

Coffee Bags With Valve

Fresh roast exhales for days — the valve lets it out without letting oxygen in.

Carbon dioxide off-gasses after roasting, and a sealed bag without a valve swells or bursts. The one-way valve solves that while the barrier keeps the volatiles that make coffee smell like coffee.

What We Make

The full kit of capabilities.

One-Way Degassing Valve
Lets CO₂ out and keeps oxygen from getting in.
Foil Barrier Structures
Full protection against oxygen, moisture, light and aroma loss.
Kraft-Faced Foil
The artisan look with a genuine barrier behind it.
Tin Tie Closure
The fold-and-clip reclose the speciality category is built around.
Resealable Zipper
The more practical reclose for everyday retail coffee.
Vacuum Pack Compatible
Foil side gussets draw down into a rigid brick.
Clear Window
Shows bean colour and grind size.
Recyclable Mono-Material
All-PE structures with a matching-polymer valve.
Skipping the Valve on Fresh Coffee
If you bag within a day or two of roasting, the pack will inflate and can split a seal. The only alternative is resting the coffee first, which costs you the freshness you are selling.
Light Barrier From Clear Film
A fully clear bag exposes coffee to light and oxygen. A window panel is fine; a clear bag is not, for a product this sensitive.

Measure Twice

Sizing & dieline.

Every Custom Printed Coffee Bags With Valve is made to your fill, not pulled off a shelf. A pouch is quoted width × length, plus the gusset that lets it stand — tell us what goes inside and how much of it, and we return a measured spec, free, before you commit to anything.

How to measure
01
Start with the fill

A pouch is sized by what goes in it, not by outside dimensions. Give us the fill weight and, if you can, the bulk — 500 g of granola needs far more bag than 500 g of powder.

02
Width and length

We quote width × length, then the bottom gusset depth that sets the footprint. Three figures, and the gusset is the one most often left off.

03
Say what it must do

Zipper or heat seal only, valve or no valve, window or full barrier. These change the film and the bag height, so they belong in the spec rather than added afterwards.

What It Costs

What moves the price
Quantity

The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.

Material and thickness

Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.

Finishing

Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.

Print coverage

Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.

Inserts and hardware

Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.

Timeline

Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

— Frequently Asked Questions —

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about Custom Printed Coffee Bags With Valve.

Because freshly roasted coffee keeps releasing carbon dioxide for several days after it leaves the roaster. It is called degassing, and it does not stop when the coffee is bagged.

In a sealed pouch with no vent, that gas has nowhere to go. The bag inflates, and if the pressure builds far enough it splits a seal — you end up with blown packs in a warehouse or on a shelf.

A one-way degassing valve lets the CO₂ escape while stopping oxygen entering from outside. That second half matters just as much: oxygen is what stales coffee, so a simple hole would be worse than no vent at all.

You can avoid the valve only by resting the coffee for several days before packing, which most speciality roasters will not do because it costs them the freshness they are selling.

Coffee is sized by roast weight, and bean density varies, so these are starting points rather than fixed dimensions:

  • 4 oz / 113 g — around 4" × 6" + 2.5" gusset, common for samples and single-origin trials
  • 8 oz / 227 g — around 5" × 7.5" + 3"
  • 12 oz / 340 g — around 5.5" × 8.5" + 3.5", the most common US retail size
  • 1 lb / 454 g — around 6" × 10" + 4"
  • 2 lb / 907 g — around 7.5" × 12" + 4.5"
  • 5 lb food service — around 9" × 16" + 5", usually side gusset

Whole bean needs more volume than ground coffee at the same weight, and a light roast is less dense than a dark one. Tell us the weight and whether it is bean or ground, and we will size it and return a dieline free with the quote.

It comes down to whether you are optimising for practicality or for how the pack reads.

A zipper is the better closure. It reseals more effectively, it is quicker to use, and it keeps working through the life of the bag.

A tin tie looks handmade. In speciality coffee that cue is worth real money, and it is why many small roasters choose it despite the zipper being objectively better at closing a bag.

The common compromise is both, in sequence: the bag is heat sealed at filling for a genuine barrier during distribution, with a tin tie above it. The customer tears off the sealed strip on first opening and uses the tin tie from then on. You get real shelf life and the artisan closure.
