Under 2 kg we build a stand-up pouch, 2 to 5 kg goes to quad seal or flat bottom, and 5 to 15 kg moves to flat bottom or side gusset with a handle. A stand-up pouch above 2 kg bulges and slumps, which is why the format changes with the weight. Larger formats carry load-rated seals so the seams do not let go when the bag is lifted.

Handles are either a reinforced die-cut or an applied handle, never a plain punched hole. A reinforced patch adds material around the cut so it carries a 15 kg load without splitting at the corner, which is the failure that shows up first on an unreinforced handle.

Applied handles are heat-welded to the film and suit the largest formats where the bag is carried rather than lifted.

It stops fat from migrating into the film, which is the most common failure in this category. High-fat recipes stain and weaken a standard laminate from the inside, so the grease-resistant structure is specified as standard for them. It pairs with a heavy-gauge BOPP / VMPET / LLDPE at 0.16 to 0.20 mm for abrasion and load.

Foil is used for raw, freeze-dried and long-date recipes where full barrier matters.

Matte lamination, because it hides the scuffing a heavy bag picks up in transit and store handling. Gloss gives higher colour impact on a grocery shelf but shows every mark. Kraft outer suits natural and grain-free ranges, and soft-touch is used on premium and veterinary lines.

A clear window showing kibble size and a laid-out feeding guide panel are planned into the artwork from the start.

Common formats are 9 × 14 inches for a 5 lb bag and 13 × 20 inches for a 25 lb bag, usually side gusset. Sizes track the feeding cycle, which is how the shelf is organised: five, fifteen and twenty-five pound formats each map to how long a bag lasts a household. Width, length and gusset are quoted separately.

Either works, and the choice comes down to bag size and how it is opened. A press-to-close zipper is fine on pouches under 5 kg. A slider is easier to find and close on a wide mouth, so it is the better fit on 15 kg formats that live open for weeks.

Both sit below a tear strip for the first opening, and both keep the aroma barrier working after opening.

The floor is 500 units, whatever the format. Most pet brands order across two or three sizes, and each size counts as its own run at that minimum. Unit cost goes down as quantities go up, and layouts for the gusset and handle are drawn by our design team without charge.

Standard turnaround is 7 to 10 business days, with a rush service at 5 to 7 business days. Samples arrive in 5 to 7 business days and are worth having on a large format, because you can load-test the handle and seals with the real fill weight.

The sample cost is deducted from the production invoice, and every order ships within the USA.
