Food Paper Bags
The SOS bag stands open for two-handed filling, the takeout counter's quiet masterpiece.
A gusseted bag with a rectangular base that pops square and stays there while it is filled. Grease defence is tiered against the food, and PFAS restrictions have changed which chemistry is available.

Sizing & dieline.
Every Food Paper Bags is made to your fill, not pulled off a shelf. A pouch is quoted width × length. Tell us what goes inside and how much of it, and we return a measured spec, free, before you commit to anything.
A pouch is sized by what goes in it, not by outside dimensions. Give us the fill weight and, if you can, the bulk, since 500 g of granola needs far more bag than 500 g of powder.
We quote width × length. Flat pouches need no gusset figure, because the bag lies flat when empty.
Zipper or heat seal only, valve or no valve, window or full barrier. These change the film and the bag height, so they belong in the spec rather than added afterwards.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Food Paper Bags per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Food Paper Bags.
The SOS build has a rectangular base that pops square when the bag is opened, and the gussets keep it upright while it's empty. Counter staff can load food with both hands instead of holding the mouth open.
It also folds flat again for storage, which matters where counter space is tight. We make them in kraft weights from 30 to 70lb, chosen by how heavy a typical order is.
Fried and oily food wants a greaseproof-lined bag, while dry items such as bread rolls can go in bare kraft. We tier the barrier as bare, lined or coated so you only pay for the protection your menu needs.
If you serve a mix, many shops run two bags, one lined for the fryer station and one bare for everything else. Glassine bags cover light bakery items, since glassine resists grease without any coating.
Yes, our grease barriers use PFAS-free chemistry. Several states now restrict PFAS in food packaging, and the older fluorochemical coatings are exactly what those rules target.
Every restaurant should put this question to a bag supplier, because the barrier looks identical either way. We can confirm the barrier type on your quote, and every build sits on a certified food-contact baseline.
Most don't, by design, because a folded and serrated top closes the bag without any hardware. The fold keeps heat in and gives staff a quick way to close an order.
If you want handles for larger delivery orders, flat or twisted paper handles can be added, along with a reinforced bottom for heavier loads. We'd keep them to the bigger sizes and leave the small SOS bags handle-free.
Flexo one-colour is the standard, because it prints quickly and holds up well on kraft at volume. Stamp-style marks suit the counter look many restaurants want.
For bright or full-colour artwork we'd move to white kraft, which gives the ink a clean base. On delivery orders the bag is often the only branded thing the customer touches, so we'd put your name where it faces up when the bag is set down.
SOS food bags run from about 4 × 2.5 × 8 in for a single item up to 7 × 4.5 × 14 in for a family order. Flat and satchel formats cover sandwiches, pastries and wraps.
We quote size as width by gusset by height. Most restaurants settle on two or three sizes that cover their menu, and if you send over a bag you already use, we can match it.
Printed food bags have a 500-unit minimum. A small café can start there with one size, then add a second once it sees what the counter actually goes through.
The top end is 100,000 for chains and delivery-heavy kitchens. Our designers prepare the print-ready layout free, and bags ship to any US location.
Bags go through production in 7 to 10 business days after proof approval. For a new opening on a fixed date, rush production can take that down to 5 to 7 business days.
A sample takes 5 to 7 business days to reach you, and we'd run your greasiest menu item through it before signing off bulk. Its cost is credited back on the full order.
