Gold hot foil reads sharpest against a deep matt substrate, and it loses definition on gloss or on a pale ground. The convention for fifty years is gold foil on deep matt, and getting the metallic to sit well is the main production challenge. The foil is applied by hot stamping, not printed.

A small bound piece reproducing archive material, and it is often the item recipients keep longest. Real historical photographs and documents are more affecting than new graphics. The booklet is printed on archival acid-free stock and held in the fitted insert with the other contents.

Every image is professionally scanned and restored, then printed at a size its quality supports rather than the size the layout wants. Old scans expose flaws when enlarged, so we will not reproduce unrestored archive images large. Alumni and retired staff are a natural audience for this material.

Gold hot foil on matt lamination is the defining combination. A tactile emboss or deboss of the 50 or the founding date adds weight, and soft-touch lamination suits a keepsake object. Every face of the rigid box is finished, since the kit is displayed and not put away.

12 by 9 by 4 inches and 14 by 11 by 5 inches are the two we build most for this milestone. The heritage booklet and any framed reproduction usually set the footprint, with bays for the remaining items around them. Rigid board adds a margin to the external size.

Golden jubilee kits carry a 500-unit minimum. Foil dies, deboss plates and the booklet binding are set up once, so the rate per box steps down above 1,000. Widening the audience to alumni often takes the count well past the floor.

Production runs 7 to 10 business days after proof approval, or 5 to 7 business days as a rush. Archive restoration adds time before that, so start early. A sample kit takes 5 to 7 business days and the sample fee is credited against the production run.

Acid-free paper resists yellowing over the decades a fifty-year kit gets kept. Ordinary print stock discolours and goes brittle, which shows first on the booklet pages and the commemorative panel. Rigid greyboard under the wrap gives the box the substance the occasion expects.
