Jar Candle Boxes.

We build jar candle boxes on 18 to 24pt paperboard, using the heavier end for 12oz and 16oz jars. A filled glass jar is dense, and a light carton bows at the base when it's lifted by the top. SBS takes the sharpest print, kraft suits a botanical range, and recycled board works for either.

For heavier glass we switch to a snap-lock bottom, because a plain tuck flap can pull open under a full jar.

Measure the jar at its widest point, then its full height with the lid screwed on. Many jars narrow at the neck or flare at the base, and the widest diameter is the one the carton has to clear. Measuring without the lid is the error we see most, and it produces a box that won't close.

For reference, an 8oz jar usually ends up in a 3.5 by 3.5 by 4 inch carton, and a 10 to 12oz jar in a 4 by 4 by 4.5 inch one.

A jar that can shift inside its carton will chip at the rim, and the rim is where glass candles break first. Each time the box is picked up, tilted or knocked, a loose jar builds speed before it meets the board. A snug footprint and a collar insert stop that movement at the source.

Vertical play counts too. With the box closed, there should be no gap between the jar lid and the carton top.

Matte lamination with one foil-stamped element gets most of the premium read without the cost of a full luxury build. Matte is the category default for home fragrance, and a foil brand mark or scent name adds the metallic accent buyers look for. Soft-touch lamination is the next step up for a boutique range.

These boxes have no window, so the scent name carries the sale and should be the largest type on the front panel.

Treat every vertical panel as a front, because boutique shelves are open and shoppers pick the box up and turn it. The brand and scent name should read from any angle. Side and back panels are where fragrance notes, wax and wick details and the net weight usually sit.

Hold a clean block on the back for the warning text. The panel has room for the required marks as long as the space is reserved before the artwork is laid out.

Yes, provided the print and finishing are held to the same standard as a white SBS box. Natural-fragrance brands use uncoated kraft to signal plant wax and small-batch making, and a crisp one or two-colour print with a foil or deboss detail carries that at a high price point. Poorly registered print on thin kraft reads as cheap straight away.

Kraft and recycled paperboard both go into ordinary paper recycling, and leaving off the lamination keeps the whole carton in that stream.

We print jar candle boxes from 500 units per design. A range with an 8oz and a 12oz jar needs two cartons, since each jar size gets its own dieline. Beyond that, volume runs to 100,000 boxes without any change to the build.

Seasonal wardrobes are quoted as new designs, so plan the holiday run alongside the core order if you want them printed together.

Once the proof is signed, standard production is 7 to 10 business days. Rush capacity brings that to 5 to 7 business days when a launch date is close. With glass jars we'd always check a physical sample, which takes 5 to 7 business days and proves the fit with the lid on.

You won't pay for the sample twice, because its cost is credited against bulk. Delivery is available to any address in the country.
