The wrap carries the colour and finish, which is why rigid boxes look so different from surface-printed cartons. A core of 2mm or heavier gives the weight in the hand that supports the price of the candle.

The box doesn't fold flat, so it reaches you assembled and stays on a dresser long after the candle has burned down.

A rigid two-piece lid and base is the standard, a shoulder box adds a coloured band that shows as the lid lifts, and a drum suits a round vessel. The two-piece gives the slow lift fragrance houses favour. A magnetic flap closure is the pick when the box will be opened and closed often.

All of these take the same interior collar, so the candle seat doesn't change with the style you choose.

A fitted collar that seats the vessel dead centre, lined with flock or foam where it meets the glass. Heavy glass and ceramic are expensive to replace, and a vessel that can move even a few millimetres rattles when the box is carried. The collar holds it at a set height so it is presented upright when the lid comes off.

A contrasting colour on the interior behind the vessel makes the open-lid view look finished.

Soft-touch lamination with a debossed logo, foil-stamped in gold or a tone close to the wrap, is where most prestige candle houses land. The deboss gives depth, and the foil makes the mark catch the light. Matte and soft-touch also photograph with more depth than gloss, which counts for brands that sell through social feeds.

Yes, for any e-commerce order a rigid candle box should travel inside a corrugated outer shipper. The wrapped paper surface marks easily, and a customer paying a premium notices a scuffed corner. The shipper is sized just over the rigid box so it can't slide around, with a thin layer of fill on top.

We quote the outer alongside the rigid box, so the two arrive sized for each other.

Common rigid builds are 4 by 4 by 4.5 inches and 5 by 5 by 5 inches, measured inside. The inside has to allow for the collar and the lining, so the box ends up larger than the bare vessel by the thickness of the interior. We size it from your filled vessel with its lid fitted.

A tall ceramic or a wide three-wick bowl will fall outside those sizes, and the box is then drawn to your vessel.

For this format the starting order is 500 boxes. Rigid boxes are partly wrapped by hand, and 500 gives a run long enough to set up the wrapping and the foil tooling properly. Larger orders run to 100,000.

One rigid structure dressed in different lid colours or foil scent names can keep a whole collection on the same base tooling, which helps a first order go further.

Expect 7 to 10 business days in production after artwork sign-off. A rush run can be scheduled at 5 to 7 business days. With a wrapped box we'd want you to handle a sample before committing, since paper colour and foil tone are hard to judge on screen, and a sample takes 5 to 7 business days.
