Muffin Boxes
The crown spreads sideways, so clearance here is lateral rather than vertical.
A muffin top overhangs its case, and a tight box shears exactly the part customers want. Oilier batters also push grease defence up the priority list.

Every detail. Intentional.

Lateral clearance, not height.
Oily batters mark fast

Sizing & dieline.
We cut Muffin Boxes to a dieline built around your product instead of pulling a stock size off the shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points. Measure the product, not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Muffin Boxes per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Muffin Boxes.
A muffin crown spreads sideways over the case, so the insert holes are spaced wider and the clearance is around the top, not above it. A cupcake box is built for height, and a tight muffin box shears off the part customers want.
We space the holes so neighbouring crowns never touch, and set the box height to suit your tallest bake.
No, sturdy muffins packed at a tight count can go insert-free, which is an honest saving. The box walls hold them in place when the footprint matches the count.
We'd keep the insert for jumbo muffins, for loose counts and for anything travelling by delivery. Inserts come with standard or jumbo holes to suit your cases.
Use coated board with a grease-tolerant interior, and add a greaseproof liner under the oilier bakes. Oily batters mark plain board quickly, and the stain shows through printed panels.
Our standard is 18pt coated board. On kraft builds we'd add the liner as a matter of course, since uncoated kraft takes grease straight in.
Kraft with a one-colour logo and a window in the lid is the café-counter look we'd recommend. The window shows the crown, and that does more selling than any line of copy on the box.
Coffee-adjacent morning palettes print well on white board, and a gloss aqueous coat keeps the box wipeable on a busy counter. Single grab-and-go boxes sit neatly in a basket by the till.
The 4-count box is 8 × 8 × 3.5 in and the 6-count is 10 × 7 × 3.5 in, with 2-count and 12-count versions as well. Singles are made for grab-and-go service.
Jumbo muffins change the hole spacing more than the height. Measure across the widest crown and send it to us with your case size.
Branded muffin boxes are made in runs of 500 or more. For a café we'd put that first 500 into whichever count sells most at the counter.
Inserts are optional on this format, so you can order the boxes alone for sturdy muffins and add inserts for a jumbo line later.
Muffin boxes take 7 to 10 business days to produce, with a 5 to 7 business day rush available. We can send a sample first in 5 to 7 business days, and that fee is credited when the full order goes ahead.
If you are testing insert-free packing, a sample box with your own muffins inside will tell you quickly whether the count holds.
A plain kraft box recycles with ordinary paper, and we offer a compostable option as well. Food-safe PE coating improves grease resistance but makes the board harder for some recyclers to accept.
The window film is the other piece to think about. An insert-free kraft box with a greaseproof paper liner is the simplest one to dispose of.
