Mylar Comic Bags.

A true mylar sleeve is archival polyester, free of the plasticisers and acids that migrate out of cheaper film. PP and PVC sleeves yellow, embrittle and off-gas over time. Polyester does none of that, so the bag does nothing to the book across decades of storage.

That chemical stability is the entire reason to specify it.

2 mil for general collection storage, 4 mil for long-term archiving of key issues. The lighter gauge is clear, flexible and sensible for volume bagging. The 4 mil film is stiffer, holds its shape in a box and gives better support to a high-value book.

Both are acid-free and both pair with a backing board.

Current and Modern books take roughly 6⅞ × 10½ inches, Silver Age 7 × 10½, Golden Age 7¾ × 10½ and magazines 8 × 10½. Trim sizes changed across eras, so a single sleeve does not fit every book cleanly. Custom dimensions are available for anything outside those standards.

No, the sleeve alone will not stop a flex, which is what the backing board is for. An acid-free board sits behind the book inside the bag and provides the rigidity. Everything in contact with the paper, board included, is acid-free.

The flap folds over the opening and carries an adhesive strip on the flap itself, never on the book. It opens and closes without residue and keeps dust and light out. A plain open-top sleeve with no flap is the cheapest option for high-volume bagging.

Yes, a small logo or shop name is printed on the sleeve edge. The film is optically clear as standard, because the cover has to read through it without haze, so the mark stays off the face. A UV-filtering film is available for books stored or displayed in daylight.

Sleeves are supplied from 500 units, packed in bulk. Retailer-marked runs use the same minimum, with pricing tiered above 1,000 for dealers and stores bagging stock at volume. Quantities up to 100,000 are available on one order. Sizing to a non-standard trim is handled free.
