Quad Seal Bags.

A quad seal bag has a vertical heat seal at each of its four corners, so the sides stay straight and the bag stands square without help. A side gusset bag folds its gussets in and has no corner seals, which is cheaper on film but leaves it leaning once part-filled.

The corner seams act as posts. They resist bulging when a dense fill pushes outward and give a flat face that prints like a carton. Cost sits between side gusset below and flat bottom above.

Four true panels: front, back and two full side gussets, each a flat surface rather than a fold. On a side gusset bag the sides are creased down the middle, so anything printed there is broken by the fold. Here the corner seals frame each panel and the artwork reads cleanly.

Most customers use the sides for the practical copy: feeding guides, ingredients, certifications, a brew guide. That keeps the front for the brand and the back for the story and the required marks.

It is the format we recommend for dense, heavy contents, because the corner seals carry load that would bulge a stand-up pouch. Kibble, grain, beans and pulses all settle hard and push out on the sides. Straight seams hold the shape and keep the pallet stacking stable.

Above 5 kg we add a reinforced die-cut handle with an extra patch of material around the hole. Heavy-gauge BOPP and PE is our default laminate here for abrasion and load, and bulk formats run up to 25 kg.

Matte lamination is the standard in premium pet food and speciality coffee, and it suits the carton-like shape. Gloss gives saturated colour for grocery and value tiers. A kraft outer fits grain, pulses and natural pet ranges.

A metallic reveal leaves areas unprinted so the metallised layer shows through as silver. A clear window on the front lets a shopper see kibble size or grain length, which is a real purchase factor. Gravure print runs edge to edge across all four panels.

Width by length plus the side gusset depth, never length by width by height as you would a box. Common sizes are 4 x 8 inches with a 2.5 inch gusset and 6 x 12 inches with a 3.5 inch gusset. The gusset figure is the full open depth of the side panel.

To size from a fill weight we need the bulk density, and the fastest way to get it is to send us a sample of the contents. We fill a test bag and settle it before locking the dimensions.

Quad seal bags start at 500 pieces per size and design. It is a more involved construction than a flat pouch, so the unit price is higher at the minimum and drops more sharply once you pass 1,000. Handles, windows and wide-profile zippers are added per unit without changing the floor.

Orders run to 100,000 pieces, and the same dieline carries across quantities without re-tooling.

Standard lead time is 7 to 10 business days, with rush production at 5 to 7 business days. Samples take 5 to 7 business days, and their cost comes off the bulk order when it is placed.

We recommend filling a sample to the full weight and standing it on a shelf for a few days. A quad seal bag should hold its shape and stay upright without leaning. If it does not, the gauge or the gusset depth needs adjusting before the run.

Heavy-gauge BOPP and PE is where we start, because the format is usually chosen for heavy contents. The standard BOPP, metallised PET and LLDPE structure covers most dry goods and pet food with a good light and oxygen barrier. Oily contents such as pet food fats and nuts move to a real aluminium foil laminate.

Kraft over PE gives a paper face for natural and premium positioning, and the squared profile suits it. A wide-profile zipper resists clogging from powders and granules where the bag is reclosed daily.
