Custom Printed Rice Bags.

Grain behaves like gravel inside a bag, and a thin film wears through at the base after being set down and picked up a few dozen times. A 1 kg retail pack can run a moderate gauge. A 5 kg bag needs heavy-gauge BOPP and PE, and from 10 kg upward we move to a woven polypropylene laminate where tear strength matters more than print finish.

Seal width goes up with weight too. A narrow seam that is fine on a snack pouch splits under five kilos of rice.

Up to 1 kg a stand-up pouch is fine, from 1 to 5 kg we use side gusset, quad seal or flat bottom, and from 5 to 25 kg a heavy gauge or woven bag with a handle. A stand-up pouch will not hold its shape past roughly 2 kg, so we do not offer it there.

Gusseted formats let the bag take grain volume without stressing the side seals. The vertical seals on a quad seal or side gusset bag carry the load instead of the base.

We would put a window on almost every retail rice bag, because shoppers judge rice by grain length and colour before they read a word. A clear PET panel on the front shows the grain, and the printed area around it does the branding.

The window costs a little light barrier where it sits. For white rice that hardly matters. For brown rice, whose bran carries oil, we keep the window small or move the pack to a foil laminate and print a photograph instead.

Gloss lamination is the most common finish, since bright saturated colour suits the grocery aisle rice sells in. Matte is used on premium and single-origin ranges to separate them from value tiers. A kraft outer fits speciality and artisanal positioning.

Hot foil stamping adds metallic detail on premium origin ranges. On value and bulk lines we can print the front only and leave the reverse unprinted to cut cost. Gravure print runs across the full face on any of the laminates.

By filled weight and bulk density first, then converted to a flat width by length plus gusset. A 6 x 10 inch bag covers 1 kg for most long-grain varieties and a 9 x 14 inch side gusset bag suits 5 kg. Short-grain and parboiled rice settle differently, so the same bag can hold a different weight.

We add headspace above the fill. Rice dust in the seal area is the second most common failure on this format, and the fix is free film above the grain line.

Printed rice bags start at 500 pieces per size. Heavy-gauge and woven formats carry more material, so the unit price at the minimum is higher than a small pouch, and it tiers down after 1,000. A handle patch or window is priced per bag and does not raise the floor.

Runs scale to 100,000 pieces on the same dieline. Millers usually start one variety at the minimum and bring the rest of the range across once the format has proved itself.

A standard run ships in 7 to 10 business days, and rush production shortens that to 5 to 7 business days. Samples reach you in 5 to 7 business days, with the sample fee credited to the bulk order.

Fill the sample to the full weight, drop it from waist height onto concrete and lift it by the handle twenty times. That is roughly what a rice bag goes through between the pallet and the pantry, and a sample that survives it will survive the shelf.

A moderate moisture barrier for white rice and a full barrier for brown rice. White rice is dry and stable, so the standard laminate's job is to keep humidity out. Brown rice carries oil in the bran that goes stale in contact with oxygen and light, and a PET, aluminium foil and PE laminate keeps its character through the date.

Both structures take the same print and the same gusset formats. The foil version costs more per bag, and on brown rice it earns it.
