Side Gusset Bags
Pleated sides that expand as the bag fills — how coffee and pet food carry volume.
Side folds let the pack take depth without sprawling. A block bottom turns the same construction into something that stands square on a shelf.

Every detail. Intentional.
Depth folded into the sides
Volume without a wider footprint.
Block bottoms stand it up
Turning a sack into a shelf pack.
Valves where degassing matters
Fresh roast exhales for days after packing.
Tin-ties for reclose
The roastery's traditional closure.
Aroma stays sealed in
Which is what customers judge coffee by.
Capacity sets the format
250g, 500g and 1kg are the trade steps.
Built like architecture.
Each Side Gusset Bags is an engineered object — measured, dieline-cut, and hand-wrapped to spec. Below: the standard build sheet.

Sizing & dieline.
Every Side Gusset Bags is made to your fill, not pulled off a shelf. A pouch is quoted width × length, plus the gusset that lets it stand — tell us what goes inside and how much of it, and we return a measured spec, free, before you commit to anything.
A pouch is sized by what goes in it, not by outside dimensions. Give us the fill weight and, if you can, the bulk — 500 g of granola needs far more bag than 500 g of powder.
We quote width × length, then the bottom gusset depth that sets the footprint. Three figures, and the gusset is the one most often left off.
Zipper or heat seal only, valve or no valve, window or full barrier. These change the film and the bag height, so they belong in the spec rather than added afterwards.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product — we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
Side Gusset Bags is priced per specification rather than from a fixed list — the same box in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Side Gusset Bags.
Where the fold is. A stand-up pouch has its gusset at the bottom, which opens into a base and lets the bag stand on its own. A side gusset bag has folds down both sides and no bottom gusset at all.
The practical consequences: a side gusset holds more volume for a narrower shelf footprint and uses less film, so it is cheaper per unit of contents. But it does not stand reliably — it lies flat when empty and leans when part-filled.
Choose a side gusset when volume and cost matter more than shelf presence, which is why it dominates coffee and bulk dry goods. Choose a stand-up pouch when the bag has to present itself on a shelf.
Several reasons that all point the same way.
Volume. Coffee is sold in weights where volume per shelf inch matters, and the side folds hold a lot.
The valve. The flat front panel is the natural place to weld a one-way degassing valve, which fresh coffee needs.
The tin tie. The fold-and-clip closure the category is associated with sits naturally on this construction.
Vacuum packing. A foil side gusset with the air drawn out becomes a rigid brick — it stacks perfectly, ships densely, and visibly proves the pack has never been opened.
It is also simply the format the category has used for decades, and shoppers recognise it as what coffee looks like.
Not dependably, and this is worth being clear about before you order.
Empty, it lies flat. Part-filled, it leans. Completely full with settled contents it will usually stand, but it is not designed to and it will not hold that position as the product is used.
There are three normal ways brands handle this: merchandise the packs lying down, present them in a shelf tray or display outer, or vacuum-pack them so the bag becomes a rigid block. All three are common.
If the pack genuinely has to stand unaided from full to empty, the format is wrong — a stand-up pouch or a flat bottom pouch is what you want.
