Truffle Boxes
Jewellery construction around fresh confectionery, and the margins on truffles justify it plainly.
At truffle prices the box is a small fraction of the ticket and most of the reason it is bought as a gift. The cavity tray is what makes that work.

Every detail. Intentional.
A cavity per truffle
They mark at a touch otherwise.
Fit without gouging
Snug to stop rolling, loose to extract.
Glassine stops the butter
Which marks any bare board.
The 9-piece square
The category's signature gift unit.
A guide printed inside the lid
Half the gift is knowing which is which.
Short shelf life, stated
Fresh confectionery in luxury clothes.

Built like architecture.
Every order of Truffle Boxes is an engineered build, measured, dieline-cut and hand-wrapped to spec. Below is the standard build sheet.

Sizing & dieline.
We cut Truffle Boxes to a dieline built around your product instead of pulling a stock size off the shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points. Measure the product, not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Truffle Boxes per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Truffle Boxes.
Each truffle sits in its own cavity, snug enough that it can't roll and loose enough to lift out without scraping the shell. With too much clearance the pieces knock against the cavity walls in transit, and with too little, fingers gouge the coating on the way out.
We size each cell from your largest piece and set the depth so the truffle sits partly below the rim. A glassine cup in each cavity keeps cocoa butter off the tray.
Thermoformed cavity trays give the closest fit per piece and suit volume runs, while board grid inserts keep the whole box plastic-free. Both hold one truffle per cell.
We'd go with board grids if recyclability is part of your pitch, and with a formed tray if the pieces are irregular in shape. Either one can take glassine cups, which stop cocoa butter from marking the insert.
The standard counts are 2, 4, 9 and 16, and the 9-piece square is the signature gift in the category. Square counts give a symmetrical grid that looks balanced when the lid comes off.
A 2-piece at about 2.5 × 1.3 × 1.3 in works as a favour or counter add-on, the 9-piece runs about 5.5 × 5.5 × 1.5 in, and 16-piece grids are the usual corporate and event size. We can cut a cavity layout for any other count you sell.
Foil on a deep colour is the chocolatier standard, often over a soft-touch lamination that feels velvety in the hand. A rigid greyboard build adds weight, and weight is the first thing a customer notices when they pick one up.
For the closure, a magnetic lid gives the gift gesture and a sleeve over a tray gives a slide-reveal opening. Embossing the lid adds a raised mark without another ink colour.
Yes, and customers have come to expect one. A lid map shows each piece by its position with the flavour name, which turns an assortment into a guided tasting.
It can be printed straight onto the inside of the lid or supplied as a loose card that sits on top of the tray. The loose card is easier to change when your assortment rotates, and the back of it has room for the required marks.
Custom truffle boxes start at 500 pieces per order. For a small chocolatier we'd put the whole 500 into one format, usually the 9-piece, rather than spreading it thinly across counts.
Larger programs run up to 100,000 boxes. Our designers will build the dieline and lid map layout with you free of charge, so the first order doesn't need a designer on your side.
Expect 7 to 10 business days of production after sign-off, or 5 to 7 on a rush schedule. Valentine's and holiday orders fill the calendar early, so book those well ahead of the date.
We can send a sample in 5 to 7 business days to confirm the cavity fit with your actual pieces. The sample cost is credited once the production run is ordered, and delivery goes to any US address.
For summer shipping we add an insulated mailer layer around the gift box. Warm transit is the one condition a rigid box can't handle on its own, and a plain carton on a hot truck offers no protection against it.
The gift box itself stays the same, so one design works all year and the insulated layer is only ordered for the warm months. The shipper also adds a layer of crush protection around the rigid box on the way.
