Ceramic Mug Boxes

Glazed ceramic with a handle — the handle is what breaks in transit.

Mug handles snap when the mug moves inside its box. A die-cut insert or moulded pulp cradle holds the body and keeps the handle clear of every wall.

What We Make

The full kit of capabilities.

Handle-Clearing Inserts
The handle supported or given clearance, never pressed on.
Moulded Pulp Cradles
Formed to the mug, holding it completely immobile.
Individual Multi-Pack Cells
No two mugs can contact each other.
Corner Cushioning
Protection where dropped parcels actually take impact.
Shipper-Rated Construction
For mugs posted individually rather than palletised.
Window Panels
Shows the printed design, which is the product.
Retail and DTC Specifications
Different builds for genuinely different journeys.
Inside Printing
Unboxing moment for gifting and DTC.
Loose Fit in a Plain Box
Movement breaks handles. Breakage that looks like a manufacturing fault is almost always a mug that was allowed to rotate inside its box.
Retail-Spec Inserts for Posted Mugs
A parcel network is a far harder journey than palletised retail distribution. The same insert will produce breakages.

Measure Twice

Sizing & dieline.

Every Ceramic Mug Boxes is cut to a dieline built around your product — not pulled off a shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.

How to measure
01
Measure the product

Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points — not the box you happen to use today.

02
Add clearance

Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.

03
Give us the order

We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.

✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product — we measure it and build the dieline.

What It Costs

What moves the price
Quantity

The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.

Material and thickness

Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.

Finishing

Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.

Print coverage

Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.

Inserts and hardware

Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.

Timeline

Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

— Frequently Asked Questions —

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about Ceramic Mug Boxes.

Because the handle is the weakest part of the mug and it absorbs every movement the mug makes inside the box.

A handle is a thin arch of ceramic joined to the body at just two points. Those joints are stress concentrators. Whenever a mug shifts, rotates or slides inside its packaging, the handle takes that load — and ceramic does not flex.

What makes this frustrating is that breakage looks like a manufacturing fault. A percentage of every shipment arrives broken, consistently, and the natural conclusion is that the mugs are weak. Almost always the mugs are fine and the insert is allowing movement.

The fix is to immobilise the mug — a moulded pulp cradle or a well-designed die-cut insert that grips the body — with the handle either supported or given clearance so nothing presses on it.

If you ship direct to consumers rather than palletised to retail, specify up. A parcel network is a genuinely harder journey, and inserts adequate for retail distribution will produce breakages.
