Coloring Books
Paper chosen for what will be drawn on it — the stock decides whether markers bleed.
Colouring books are used, not read. Uncoated stock with enough weight to take marker without bleeding through is the whole specification.

Every detail. Intentional.
Stock stops the bleed
Uncoated, and heavy enough.
Single-sided where markers are expected
An honest design choice.
Saddle stitch opens flat
Which colouring requires.
Line weight prints clean
Thin lines fill in badly.
Cover stock takes handling
Children are not gentle.
Perforated pages on request
So work can be displayed.
Built like architecture.
Each Custom Coloring Books is an engineered object — measured, dieline-cut, and hand-wrapped to spec. Below: the standard build sheet.

Sizing & dieline.
Every Custom Coloring Books is cut to a dieline built around your product — not pulled off a shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points — not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product — we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
Custom Coloring Books is priced per specification rather than from a fixed list — the same box in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Custom Coloring Books.
Two approaches, and you can use either or both.
Heavier uncoated paper. Standard book stock at 80gsm lets felt-tip go straight through. 120gsm is the practical minimum for a colouring book and handles crayon and pencil comfortably. 150gsm is what you want if the book is aimed at marker use — bleed is largely eliminated even with wet felt-tips.
Single-sided printing. Print images on one side only and leave every reverse blank. Bleed still happens, but there is nothing on the other side to ruin. This removes the problem completely rather than reducing it.
The trade-off with single-sided is cost: you need double the pages for the same number of images. For a premium or marker-focused book that is usually worth it; for a high-volume budget title, heavier stock alone is the sensible compromise.
One thing that is not optional: the paper must be uncoated. Coated and laminated stocks resist crayon and marker — the colour sits on the surface and smears instead of taking. It is one of very few products where a coating breaks the function entirely.
