Custom Coloring Books.

Uncoated stock at 120 to 150gsm. The 120gsm sheet is the practical minimum, taking crayon and pencil well and cutting marker bleed substantially. For a book aimed at felt-tips we go to 150gsm, where bleed is largely gone even with wet markers. Standard 80gsm book paper is not offered on this product because ink goes straight through it.

Because a blank reverse removes bleed-through entirely. It is an honest design choice for marker-focused books. The cost is a doubled page count for the same number of images, so the book gets thicker and a little dearer. Where the book is for crayon and pencil, double-sided on 120gsm is fine and keeps the page count down.

Yes, and we recommend it. A perforation near the spine lets a finished page come out cleanly without wrecking the binding. Saddle stitch is the usual construction, since it opens flat, which colouring needs. Wire-o is the alternative on thicker books where a stitch would not hold the page count.

With thick outlines, printed as solid black on an uncoated interior. Thin lines fill in badly and young children cannot colour inside them, so line weight is set to the age group. The cover is where the colour print goes, on a matt or gloss finish that survives being carried around. We print with an ink system specified for products handled directly by children.

8.5 × 11 inches and an 8 × 8 inch square are the two we print most. A4 and A5 trims are available for markets that use them. The size is the trimmed closed book, and a square format gives a wider page for the larger drawings younger children tend to make.

500 books. That suits a single event giveaway, a waiting room or a restaurant kids' pack. Pricing tiers begin once you pass 1,000 copies and the run can go to 100,000 for retail or promotional distribution, all on the same bleed-resistant stock.

A run takes 7 to 10 business days from approved proofs, and a rush run 5 to 7 business days. We produce a sample in 5 to 7 business days, which is worth doing so you can test a marker on the actual stock before the order. Its fee is credited against the production run.

Yes, recycled uncoated stock is available at the same weights. It takes crayon and pencil the same way and, being uncoated and unlaminated inside, the whole interior goes in paper recycling. The cover can stay matt or gloss for durability, or go uncoated if you want the entire book in one waste stream.
