Individual channels stop pencil-to-pencil knocks, and end cushioning absorbs the end-on impact that fractures the lead inside the wood. That hidden failure shows up as a point that keeps falling out at the sharpener, with no visible damage to the box. Both fixes are built into the tray.

We don't quote loose-packed sets for this reason.

Because a school pencil box is opened every day for a term, and a scored boxboard hinge wears through. The pack is judged over a year rather than one delivery. We reinforce the hinge with a wrapped rigid board construction on kept cases, or use a slide drawer that has no hinge at all.

The slide drawer is the popular format, since opening it is also the display.

A tray that slides out of a sleeve, so the whole set is revealed in one motion. The drawer carries the channelled tray and the sleeve carries the print. There's no lid to fatigue, and the drawer can be pushed home one-handed, which suits classroom use.

Rigid board versions are used for artist and presentation sets that are kept long term.

Full CMYK with a clear window on colour sets, since printed swatches never match the real pencil. Grade marking for HB, 2B and 6B goes on the front for graphite ranges. Matte lamination suits artist-grade sets, foil detail suits gifting, and kraft natural fits natural-wood positioning.

A 12-count box is 8 by 3 by 0.75 inches and a 24-count box is 8 by 5 by 0.75 inches. Both are built around a standard pencil length with a little end clearance for the cushioning. The channel pitch comes from the barrel diameter, so triangular or jumbo pencils are measured separately.

The long, flat format suits a single tray, and deeper boxes stack two.

We produce from 500 units per size. The tiered pricing kicks in above 1,000, and a 12-count and a 24-count on the same order are counted separately. Windows and foil are quoted as options so a school range and a gift range can share one structure.

Sets and singles can be combined, each at its own minimum.

Standard turnaround is 7 to 10 business days after the proof is signed. Where a back-to-school date is close, rush production runs 5 to 7 business days. Sampling takes 5 to 7 business days and the fee is credited against the bulk run.

We would sample the hinge or drawer and open it fifty times before you approve it.

Yes, folding boxboard, rigid board and the tray are all paper recycling once the window film is removed. The end cushioning is board as well. Kraft natural with no lamination is the simplest spec to recycle, and it suits natural-wood ranges anyway.

A kept case in rigid board is the longer-lasting option, which reduces waste in a different way.
