Shipping Tubes

Rolled goods travel better in a cylinder — posters, prints and textiles without a crease.

The tube's founding trade. Wall thickness carries crush resistance through a parcel network, and end caps decide whether the contents can be pushed out or slide free.

What We Make

The full kit of capabilities.

Heavy Wall Construction
Thicker wound wall specified for crush resistance under stacked load.
Custom Diameter
Sized to your rolled contents so nothing shifts in transit.
Custom Length
Long-format lengths well beyond retail tube proportions.
Gripping End Plugs
Plugs that engage the inner wall and stay on through sortation.
Telescoping Option
Two-part tube that adjusts to length where contents vary.
Full-Wrap Printing
CMYK and Pantone across the body, seam to seam.
Single-Colour Print
Logo and return address only, where full wrap is not justified.
Scuff-Resistant Lamination
Matte or gloss film that survives handling better than uncoated stock.
Hot Foil Stamping
Metallic detail where the tube doubles as presentation.
Tamper-Evident Seal
Seal or tape over the end closure on request.
Inside Print
Not standard — the interior is the wound ply.
Window Cut-Out
Not recommended on shipping tubes: an aperture is a weak point under load.

How to measure
01
Measure the product

A cylinder needs two figures, not three: the diameter across its widest point, and the height. Measure the item itself, not the pack you happen to use today.

02
Add clearance

Allow 2–3 mm on the diameter so the product drops in without binding, and a few millimetres of headroom if a lid, pillow or tissue sits on top.

03
Give us the order

We quote round formats as Diameter × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.

What It Costs

What moves the price
Quantity

The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.

Material and thickness

Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.

Finishing

Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.

Print coverage

Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.

Inserts and hardware

Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.

Timeline

Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

— Frequently Asked Questions —

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about Custom Shipping Tubes.

Products that benefit from tube packaging: rolled paper items (posters, blueprints, maps, large prints), textiles shipped rolled rather than folded, certain cosmetic products (lip glosses, mascaras, cylindrical candles), wine and spirits bottles, novelty packaging requiring cylindrical aesthetics, and art prints where folding would damage the product. The format-product match is the primary consideration — tubes add cost and carrier interaction complexity versus standard boxes, so the protection or aesthetic benefit should justify that trade-off.
Caps and plugs on both ends prevent the tube from opening and product from escaping during transit. Internal end-stuffing (foam plugs, tissue, or cardboard end-pads) prevents the product from sliding and impacting the end caps. For multiple rolled items in a single tube, separating layers with tissue or cardboard prevents items from scratching each other during movement. Pressure-fit cap designs that resist accidental opening under impact are preferable to loosely fitting alternatives.
Wall thickness determines crush resistance during transit. For lightweight documents and paper products: standard 3mm wall is adequate. For medium-weight rolled textiles or prints: 4–5mm wall provides better stack resistance in carrier sorting. For heavy or high-value contents: 6mm or composite tubes provide maximum protection. Carrier handling typically involves conveyor belt compression and package stacking — tubes should resist lateral compression from the expected maximum stack weight.
