Custom Cylinder Boxes.

A cylinder box has a formed rigid wall wrapped in printed paper, with a telescoping lid that fits over a base. A paper tube is a spiral-wound body closed with caps that sit on or in the ends.

The cylinder box is the round equivalent of a two-piece rigid box. It costs more, uses more board and ships assembled, and it is chosen when the unboxing is part of what the customer is paying for.

Tight enough to lift with slow, controlled resistance, and loose enough that it never sticks. That fit is a tolerance we set on the sample, because paper wrap thickness and humidity both affect it.

The slow lift is the whole point of the format. A lid that pops off reads as a tube. A lid that eases off reads as a gift.

Yes. The rigid wall takes a printed wrap inside as well as outside. A wound tube cannot do this because its interior is the wound ply.

A coloured or patterned interior is the most common use. It is the first thing the customer sees when the lid comes off, before the product.

Foam, card and fabric-covered inserts, each die-cut to the product and to the inside diameter of the box. A round insert holds a bottle, a jar or a candle centred with no corner to rattle into.

Velvet or satin over a card former is the usual choice for jewellery and fragrance. Foam suits heavier glass. Card alone suits a simple product that needs positioning rather than cushioning.

No. A cylinder box is made up and wrapped as a finished object, so it ships to you assembled. That is the trade-off for a rigid wall and a controlled lid fit.

Freight is quoted with the order and depends on box size and quantity. If flat shipping matters more than the rigid feel, a spiral-wound paper tube is the alternative.

Coated art paper for litho print, or a specialty stock such as a textured, felt-marked or metallic paper. The wrap goes over the formed wall, so the surface is whatever the paper is.

Foil, spot UV and embossing all work on the lid face, which is where the eye lands first. On the curved body we keep relief work shallow so the wrap stays smooth.

300 units in one diameter and height. Common builds are 3 by 4, 4 by 6 and 5 by 8 inches, and any size in between can be formed.

The rigid wall and hand-wrapping mean the unit price is higher than a wound tube. It falls with quantity because the wrap print and the forming set-up are spread over the run.

7 to 10 business days from artwork approval, or 5 to 7 on rush. A sample takes 5 to 7 business days and is where the lid fit is set.

We do not recommend skipping the sample on a cylinder box. The lift resistance is something you judge in the hand, and it is easier to adjust on one box than on three hundred.
