Silver foil shows every flaw in the surface beneath it, so the wrap paper has to be flat, dense and clean before the foil goes down. Gold is warmer and hides a little. Silver is close to a mirror and reflects any fibre lift, dust speck or uneven glue line as a visible blemish.

We suggest a small printed code on the base or a coloured band inside the lid so packing teams can tell the variants apart without opening every box. Nobody receiving one sees a visible tier.

Dark wrap paper under matt lamination, an embossed or debossed 25, soft-touch and an inside-lid print are the finishes that pair well with silver hot foil. Navy, charcoal and black are the usual base colours, because a bright metallic on a light ground tends to disappear at arm's length.

Emboss under the foil lifts the numeral off the lid so it catches light from two angles. Keep the palette tight, since a second foil colour usually makes the lid look busy.

Common sizes are 12 x 9 x 4 inches and 14 x 11 x 5 inches, measured as internal length, width and depth. The right size depends on the tallest item in the kit and how many bays the insert needs.

Send us the items or their dimensions and we'll lay out the insert first, then size the box around it. Building the box first and hoping the contents fit is how bays end up either loose or unusable.

Our minimum is 500 kits. That figure reflects the make-ready on a wrapped rigid box: the wrap paper, the foil die and the insert tooling are all set up once, and a smaller run would carry those costs on too few units.

Above 1,000 the unit price steps down again. If your list is shorter than 500, talk to us about a simpler structure before assuming the box is out of reach.

Production runs 7 to 10 business days once artwork is approved, and a rush service brings that to 5 to 7 business days. A pre-production sample takes 5 to 7 business days and is the right point to check foil placement and insert fit.

The sample fee is credited back against the bulk order. For a dated event, work backward from the presentation date and add shipping time on top.

Posted kits go inside a plain corrugated shipper outer, and the silver foil we use is a tarnish-resistant metallised film rather than real metal. The shipper takes the courier scuffs so the wrapped box arrives clean, and the foil holds its brightness when the box sits on a desk or shelf for years.

The greyboard core, wrap paper and insert are all paper-based, so once the kit is finally retired the box recycles with cardboard.
