With an extra board layer at the tab root, a doubled panel, or an applied plastic hanger on heavier packs. The tab carries the box, the insert and the product through repeated lift-and-replace by browsing customers. That small area takes the whole load and tear-out starts at the root.

Reinforcement is not optional once there's weight in the pack, and we spec it from the loaded weight.

Directly over the loaded centre of gravity, or the pack hangs crooked on the peg. The insert and product shift the balance point away from the middle of the box, so we check it with the real contents. A crooked pack hides the header and looks like it's fallen.

We don't place tabs without checking balance on a filled sample.

The retailer's fixture decides it, and euro slot is the safer default. Euro slot is the more secure hanging format and standard on most peg fixturing. A round hole is simpler and cheaper where the fixtures allow it. Ask the buyer which pegs the store uses before we cut the tab.

Both can be die-cut in the same reinforced patch.

Brand and product name at the top, because peg displays sit above eye level. The header is what gets read first. Full CMYK with a window panel shows the product held in position by the insert, and matte lamination is available for higher-tier products.

Keep the tab area free of key artwork, since the reinforcement patch sits behind it.

Common sizes are 5 by 3 by 1.5 inches and 7 by 4 by 2 inches, plus the tab height. The box is sized from the insert, and the insert from the product. Peg-optimised proportions keep the pack narrow enough to hang in a row without overlapping the neighbour.

The minimum is 500 units per design. The reinforced patch and the fitted insert are part of the unit price, and pricing steps down above 1,000. An applied plastic hanger is a small extra per box on heavy packs.

Window film is optional and quoted as its own line.

Production is 7 to 10 business days after proof approval. Rush production runs 5 to 7 business days. A filled sample takes 5 to 7 business days, and it's how we confirm the balance point and tab strength before the run. We credit the sample fee back when the hang tab boxes go into production.

Hang the sample and lift it off the peg a dozen times.

It depends on the reinforcement, so we specify from the loaded weight rather than the box dimensions. A reinforced board patch handles most small retail items. Heavier goods need an applied plastic tab or a card backing, and past that a hanging box is the wrong format.

The load is repeated small shocks from browsing, not one static pull.
