Incense Boxes
Long, thin and aromatic, so the box has to contain a scent as well as a stick.
Incense fragrance migrates through uncoated board and into neighbouring stock. Sealed liners or coated interiors keep each scent where it belongs.

Sizing & dieline.
We cut Incense Boxes to a dieline built around your product instead of pulling a stock size off the shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points. Measure the product, not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Incense Boxes per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Incense Boxes.
Yes, incense scent passes through uncoated board and into whatever is stacked next to it. A coated interior or a sealed liner keeps each fragrance contained, which matters when several scents share a display.
Some brands want the opposite and use unlined board on purpose, so the box smells of what is inside and works as a free sample on the shelf. We can build either, and the choice should be made before the dieline is drawn.
Support along the full length of the bundle stops the sticks bending at the middle, which is where they break. A long, narrow tuck-end sleeve flexes easily when handled, so we pair it with an insert or a board heavy enough to resist crushing.
A printed band around the bundle keeps the sticks aligned, so they do not slide and grind against each other in transit. Cones travel in a separate square carton.
Resin-rich masala sticks usually need a greaseproof or coated interior, because their oils stain plain board quickly. An oil mark coming through to the outside of a printed carton ruins it for sale.
Charcoal-based and dipped sticks vary, so test a few of your own sticks in a sample carton for a week or two. If no oil reaches the print, the lighter unlined stock will do.
Keep one structure and layout across the range, and let the scent name and a colour per fragrance carry the difference. Buyers choose incense by scent, so the name needs to be the largest word on the face after the brand.
Heritage ranges often borrow from agarbatti or kōdō traditions, while wellness brands go minimal with soft-touch and a small foil mark. CMYK and Pantone print, embossing and spot UV are all available on this carton.
Stick boxes commonly run about 9.5 × 2 × 1 in, and cone boxes about 3 × 3 × 1.5 in. Sticks are typically 9 to 11 in long, so we set the carton length from your longest stick plus a small allowance at each end.
Box depth depends on bundle count. Tell us how many sticks or cones go in each pack and we will draw the carton around that number at no charge.
The smallest run we print is 500 incense boxes. Higher volumes go up to 100,000 pieces, so a trial batch and a wholesale programme can use exactly the same carton.
A good way to start a multi-scent range is one shared structure with printed variations, since a single dieline then serves every scent you add later.
Once artwork is approved, incense cartons are finished in 7 to 10 business days. Rush production can bring that down to 5 to 7 business days if stock is running low.
We suggest a sample first, partly to check the stick fit and partly to see how the board handles your scent over a few days. The sample takes 5 to 7 business days, and its cost is credited when you place the full order.
Plain unlined paperboard incense cartons are accepted in most curbside paper recycling. Our recyclable board option keeps them that way.
Coatings, greaseproof layers and heavy lamination add material to separate, so if recyclability is a selling point, we would keep the finish light and use the scent barrier only where the sticks need it. A printed paper band instead of plastic shrink film also keeps the pack single-material.
