Check the actual rack, but the practical standard is a DL footprint — roughly 99 × 210 mm folded. Most commercial display racks are built around it.

Two things go wrong if you ignore this:

• Too large and it will not seat in the pocket properly, so it leans out or falls.
• Too large also obscures the leaflets behind it, which is why venue managers remove oversized leaflets from shared racks.

The second consideration is often more important and almost always overlooked: a rack only exposes the top third of a leaflet. Everything that has to attract someone from across a room — your name, the offer, the key image — has to sit in that top band.

A well-designed leaflet with the headline positioned halfway down the front panel is, in a rack, an anonymous strip of colour. Design the top band as though it were the whole thing, and treat everything below it as content for someone who has already picked it up.

If you are going into third-party racks, get the pocket dimensions before you design rather than after.
