Power banks contain lithium cells, which are classified as dangerous goods for transport. That has three practical consequences worth resolving before you design packaging.

Cell testing. Lithium cells and batteries are generally required to be tested to UN 38.3. Your cell supplier should be able to provide that documentation.

Marking and documentation. Shipments typically require lithium battery marking and appropriate Class 9 handling, and the requirements differ between air, road and sea — air is the most restrictive.

The packaging itself must prevent short circuits and protect the terminals, which is where the insert design matters.

Our strong advice is to confirm the current requirements with your carrier or freight forwarder first, tell us what space the marking needs, and we will design the artwork around it. That is far cheaper than discovering it after tooling and ending up with a compliance sticker across your logo.
