Sauce Bottle Boxes.

Often a label is enough, and we will say so if that is the case. A carton earns its place when the bottle is a gift, sits in a multi-pack, ships direct to the consumer or needs five flat print panels that a curved label band cannot give. For a single bottle on a supermarket shelf a well-printed label frequently does the job.

Where the carton is justified, the fit and the insert decide whether it works, and that is the part of the quote we spend the most time on.

A die-cut board cradle holds the bottle at the shoulder and base so it cannot travel. Glass fails at the neck and shoulder, so the insert is shaped to those points rather than the body. In a divided multi-pack the same cradle isolates each bottle so glass never touches glass.

The carton is measured with the cap on, because closures add real height and a snug carton without that allowance will not shut.

A parcel route needs a moulded pulp cradle and an E-flute outer rather than a retail insert. Palletised retail freight is gentle and a light board insert is adequate, but a bottle handled individually by a courier takes drops and knocks that a flat insert does not absorb. Moulded pulp cushions the shoulder and base.

When the carton is also the shipper, the outer moves from folding boxboard to E-flute corrugated.

Full CMYK across five panels is the usual choice, with matte lamination on artisan ranges. The carton gives print area a label never has, so a recipe or serving panel is worth planning in. Hot foil stamping suits gift sets, and uncoated kraft carries small-batch and organic positioning.

A window panel shows the sauce colour, which for some products is the whole pitch. The barrier-lined interior keeps a leak from staining through the print.

Common cartons are 2.5 by 2.5 by 8 inches and 3 by 3 by 9 inches, measured with the cap fitted. The internal dimensions are taken from the bottle's widest point and its full height including the closure, plus the thickness of the insert. A multi-pack footprint is set by the number of bottles and the divider thickness between them.

Sauce bottle cartons are quoted from 500 units. A small-batch producer testing a gift set can start there, and the unit price improves once the order passes 1,000. Runs up to 100,000 are handled in one production order.

Inserts are counted with the carton, so 500 cartons means 500 fitted cradles.

A carton with a fitted insert ships in 7 to 10 business days, or 5 to 7 on the rush schedule. Moulded pulp cradles are tooled separately, so a first order with pulp allows for that at the start. Board inserts are die-cut alongside the carton and add nothing to the schedule.

A sample carton with its insert takes 5 to 7 business days, and that cost is credited when the production order follows.

An auto-bottom spreads the bottle's weight across a glued base, where a tuck can push open. A filled glass bottle is heavy for its footprint, and a tuck-end base carrying that load through a parcel network is the common failure. The glued auto-bottom locks flat as the carton is erected.

Folding boxboard handles retail, and an E-flute outer takes the load where the carton is also the shipper.
