Waterproof Labels
A waterproof label is a system rather than a material, because facestock, ink, laminate and adhesive all have to survive.
The weakest of those four decides the outcome. Specifying waterproof film and then printing with an ink that runs, or laminating correctly over an adhesive that lets go when chilled, fails either way.

Every detail. Intentional.

The weakest decides the result.

Ink has to be stable
UV and latex are; some aqueous are not.
Cold defeats standard tack
Freezer and wet-apply grades exist for it.
Waterproof is not weatherproof
UV is a separate specification.

Built like architecture.
Every order of Waterproof Labels is an engineered build, measured, dieline-cut and hand-wrapped to spec. Below is the standard build sheet.

Sizing & dieline.
We cut Waterproof Labels to a dieline built around your product instead of pulling a stock size off the shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points. Measure the product, not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product and we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
We price Waterproof Labels per specification rather than from a fixed list, because the same build in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Waterproof Labels.
A label only stays waterproof when all four layers hold up: the film facestock, the ink, the laminate and the adhesive. The weakest of the four decides how it performs, so a good film printed with an unstable ink will still run.
We build these on BOPP, PP, vinyl or polyester film, never paper, and pick the ink, over-laminate and adhesive grade to suit the conditions you describe to us.
It will if the adhesive is chosen for the job, because standard tack lets go on a chilled or damp surface. Condensation on a bottle pulled from a fridge is an adhesive problem before it is anything else.
For that we specify a wet-apply adhesive that bonds to damp and chilled surfaces, or a freezer-grade adhesive for goods that live in cold storage. Tell us how and where the labels get applied and we'll match the grade.
Polyester film with an over-laminate is what we would use for washdown and immersion. Detergent plus scrubbing wears through ink faster than plain water does, and full immersion is the hardest case because every layer is tested at once.
BOPP remains the everyday waterproof facestock for bottles, tubs and jars that only get splashed or handled with wet hands.
Rain resistance and sun resistance are separate specifications, and a label can pass the first while fading under the second. Waterproof film and laminate stop water, but UV exposure still breaks down unprotected ink colour over time.
For outdoor use we print with UV-stable inks and add a gloss over-laminate. Let us know if the label will sit in sunlight so we quote the weathering spec along with the waterproof one.
Gloss over-laminate, matte film, holographic and a clear no-label look are all available on waterproof stock. The gloss laminate gives the most protection, while matte keeps the label water-resistant without the shine.
Clear film on glass or PET makes the print look applied straight to the container. We print digitally, can match Pantone colours, and die-cut to any shape you send.
We cut to whatever die size you need, measured as the finished label width by height. Measure the flat area of the container where the label will sit, leaving clearance from seams, shoulders and the curve near the base.
Labels come on rolls for machine or hand application, or on sheets for small batches. If you use an applicator, tell us the core size and unwind direction.
The smallest run we print for waterproof labels is 500 pieces. Orders scale up to 100,000 when you are labelling a full production batch.
Artwork setup and dieline help cost nothing, so a first run of 500 is a sensible way to prove the adhesive on your real containers before you move to larger quantities.
Production takes 7 to 10 business days once you approve the proof, and rush jobs can ship in 5 to 7. Printed sample labels for adhesion testing reach you in 5 to 7 business days.
We'd suggest testing samples cold, wet and on the actual filled container, since that's where adhesive failures show up. The sample fee is credited against your production order, and we ship anywhere in the USA.
