Printed Cold Drink Cups

Condensation runs down the outside — which is where print and grip both have to survive.

A cold cup sweats, and that moisture reaches the print, the sleeve and the customer's hand. Wall thickness and coating are specified against that rather than against heat.

What We Make

The full kit of capabilities.

Double-Sided PE Coating
Sealed inside and out, so condensation cannot soak the board.
Straw Slot Lids
The cold-service standard.
Dome Lids
Headroom for whipped cream, foam and garnish.
Strawless Sip Lids
Where single-use straws are restricted.
Sizes to 22 oz
Cold menus size up to allow for ice displacement.
PLA Compostable Lining
Both faces, where commercial composting is available.
Clear PET Alternative
For layered drinks, smoothies and bubble tea where the drink is the display.
Existing Lid Matching
Sized to lids you already stock rather than forcing a lid change.
Single-Sided PE for Cold
The outer face would absorb its own condensation and go limp. We will not build a cold cup this way.
Hot Drinks
A single wall cold cup has no insulation. For hot service specify double wall or ripple wall.

Measure Twice

Sizing & dieline.

How to measure
01
Measure the product

A cylinder needs two figures, not three: the diameter across its widest point, and the height. Measure the item itself, not the pack you happen to use today.

02
Add clearance

Allow 2–3 mm on the diameter so the product drops in without binding, and a few millimetres of headroom if a lid, pillow or tissue sits on top.

03
Give us the order

We quote round formats as Diameter × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.

What It Costs

What moves the price
Quantity

The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.

Material and thickness

Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.

Finishing

Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.

Print coverage

Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.

Inserts and hardware

Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.

Timeline

Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

— Frequently Asked Questions —

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about Custom Printed Cold Drink Cups.

Because a cold drink puts liquid on the outside of the cup as well as the inside.

Warm air holds water vapour. When it touches a chilled surface, that vapour condenses into droplets — the same reason a cold glass sweats on a summer day. The cup then sits in its own moisture for as long as the drink lasts.

If the outer face is bare paperboard it absorbs that water. The board softens, the cup loses rigidity in the hand, and printed ink can lift. It is the most common complaint about cold paper cups, and it is always the same cause.

Double-sided PE seals both faces — inside against the drink, outside against condensation. A hot cup does not need this because it never meets liquid on the outside, which is why hot cups are cheaper and why using them for cold service fails.

Common steps are 9, 12, 16 and 22 oz, and cold sizes run larger than hot ones for a specific reason: ice.

A cold drink is usually served over ice, and that ice displaces beverage. A 16 oz cup packed with ice delivers appreciably less drink than the number suggests. So the practical question is not "what size cup" but "how much drink am I advertising, and at what ice ratio".

Work out the served liquid volume you want, add your ice, and size from that. If a garnish, foam or whipped cream sits above the rim you also need a dome lid and the headroom for it.

Tell us the drinks on your menu and we will suggest the size steps that cover them with the fewest SKUs behind the counter.
