French Fry Boxes
Open at the top by design — fries steam themselves soft in anything enclosed.
The scoop shape exists so heat and moisture escape while the fries stay upright and reachable. Grease resistance is the only other real specification.

Every detail. Intentional.
Open top by design
Enclosure is what makes fries soggy.
Grease-resistant board
Fry oil goes through bare stock fast.
Scoop shape stays upright
Fries reachable without tipping.
Small to large steps
Sized to the portion, not the tray.
Flat-packs for storage
Erected at the counter in seconds.
Bold one-colour print
Which is what reads at service speed.
Built like architecture.

Sizing & dieline.
Every Custom French Fry Boxes is cut to a dieline built around your product — not pulled off a shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.
Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points — not the box you happen to use today.
Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.
We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.
✦ Not sure of your size? Send us the product — we measure it and build the dieline.
Pricing & minimums.
Custom French Fry Boxes is priced per specification rather than from a fixed list — the same box in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.
The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.
Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.
Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.
Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.
Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.
Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

Questions, answered.
Everything you need to know about Custom French Fry Boxes.
Tell us grams per portion and your cut style — those two together decide it, and dimensions alone will mislead you.
Bulk density varies a lot between cuts. Thin shoestring fries pack tightly; steak-cut, crinkle and curly fries trap far more air, so the same weight needs noticeably more volume.
Rough starting points: a regular serve is around 100–120 g, a large around 150–180 g, and sharing portions above that.
One thing worth deciding deliberately: fries are usually served heaped above the rim, and that visible overfill is part of the perceived value. Size the box for the heaped portion, not for the fries sitting flat.
Steam, almost always — and it is why fry containers are open-topped.
A hot fry gives off water vapour. In open air it disperses. In a closed or poorly vented container it condenses back onto the fry surface, and that moisture softens the crust that the fryer just created. It happens within a few minutes.
Three things to check:
- Are they lidded? Any lid, even a vented one, slows vapour escape enough to cost texture.
- Are they bagged immediately? A sealed paper bag around an open scoop recreates the same problem.
- Are they stacked in a delivery bag? Insulated bags hold vapour in around the whole order.
The open scoop is the format precisely because it vents continuously. Anything that closes it is trading texture for tidiness.
Yes, but it needs specifying for this case rather than treated as a general grease barrier — and that distinction is worth understanding.
The fluorochemical coatings the industry used were exceptionally good at repelling very hot oil. They are now restricted in food packaging across California, New York, Washington, Minnesota, Oregon, Illinois and a growing list of others, targeting intentionally added PFAS with total organic fluorine thresholds around 100 ppm.
PFAS-free replacements perform well, but they are not interchangeable across applications. Oil viscosity drops sharply with temperature, so fryer-temperature oil penetrates far more aggressively than the warm grease on a sandwich wrap. A barrier rated for the second is not automatically right for the first.
We specify fry containers against the hot-oil case. If you are reordering from a spec sheet written a few years ago, it is worth re-checking.
