Overview

Frozen Food Boxes

Coatings that stay flexible at minus twenty — and print that survives condensation.

Freezer conditions crack standard coatings and release standard adhesives. The board, the coating and the ink are all specified against the temperature the box actually lives at.

What We Make

The full kit of capabilities.

Moisture-Resistant Board
Holds strength through repeated condensation cycles.
Freeze-Thaw Rated Construction
Survives the repeated temperature changes of frozen distribution.
Crack-Resistant Ink Systems
Print stays intact when a cold carton is flexed.
Cabinet-Stackable Formats
Square, flat-topped shapes that carry load while cold and damp.
Poly-Lined Options
Where the product is in direct contact or ice-glazed.
Freezer-to-Oven Board
Rated for cook-in-pack products.
Cooking Instruction Layout
Panels designed to be read at the cabinet door.
Premium Finishes
Matte, foil and metallic detail that survive freezer conditions.
Standard Ambient Board
It absorbs condensation and loses strength. Cartons that were fine at ambient bulge and soften after a few freeze-thaw cycles.
Standard Inks and Coatings
They go brittle when cold and crack when the pack is handled. Cracked print reads as old stock and costs sales.

Measure Twice

Sizing & dieline.

Every Frozen Food Boxes is cut to a dieline built around your product — not pulled off a shelf. Send us the length, width and height of the item (or the item itself) and we return a measured dieline, free, before you commit to anything.

How to measure
01
Measure the product

Length, width and height of the item itself, at its widest points — not the box you happen to use today.

02
Add clearance

Allow 2–4 mm on each axis for a snug fit, and more if you are adding foam, a pillow insert or tissue.

03
Give us the order

We quote as Length × Width × Height. Tell us whether you are working in millimetres or inches and we match it.

What It Costs

Frozen Food Boxes is priced per specification rather than from a fixed list — the same box in two different finishes can land at very different numbers. Below is what actually moves the price, so you can shape the spec before you request a quote.

What moves the price
Quantity

The single biggest lever. Unit cost falls sharply as volume rises, because setup and tooling spread across more pieces.

Material and thickness

Board weight and stock choice change both the raw material cost and the shipping weight of the finished run.

Finishing

Foil, spot UV, embossing and soft-touch each add a pass on press. One or two lift the box; five compound the cost.

Print coverage

Full-bleed print inside and out costs more than a one-sided design on natural stock.

Inserts and hardware

Foam, moulded pulp, velvet pillows, magnets and ribbon are priced per piece on top of the box itself.

Timeline

Standard production is the base rate. Rush moves you up the production queue and carries a surcharge.

— Frequently Asked Questions —

Questions, answered.

Everything you need to know about Frozen Food Boxes.

Because of water, and it causes two separate problems.

Condensation. Every time a carton moves between temperatures — cold store to truck, truck to loading bay, bay to retail cabinet — moisture condenses on its surface. Paperboard absorbs it, and damp board loses a substantial part of its structural strength. Repeated freeze-thaw cycles compound the effect, so a carton perfectly adequate at ambient can bulge and soften in distribution.

Brittleness. Coatings and inks that flex happily at room temperature become brittle when very cold. Flexing a cold carton — handling it, stacking it, knocking it in a cabinet — cracks the print. Cracked print reads as old stock, and shoppers reach past it.

Frozen cartons therefore use moisture-resistant board and flexible low-temperature ink and coating systems. Neither is the default specification, so both have to be asked for.
