Pieces that touch bond together, and pulling them apart tears the surface. A cavity tray gives every piece its own well, so nothing meets its neighbour through chilled display and transport.

The insert is the component that makes this box work, more than the outer. We size the wells to your piece diameter with a little clearance all round, and we don't supply this product for loose packing.

It's a tray with a coating on the contact surface so mochi lets go of it cleanly. Over a few hours in a chilled cabinet, a soft piece can bond to plain board, especially once condensation has made it damp.

The release coating prevents that, and the piece lifts out whole. We specify it with the cold in mind as well, so it stays flexible at chilled or frozen temperatures instead of cracking.

No, we only build single-layer formats for mochi. A soft piece deforms under very little weight, and a second layer on top would flatten the pieces underneath.

The box is wide and shallow for that reason. For a larger count we go wider with more wells, never taller, and most ranges settle on 4-piece and 9-piece grids.

Standard window film fogs over in a chilled cabinet and hides the colour of the pieces. Anti-fog film stays clear through the temperature swings of chilled display.

Mochi sells largely on how it looks, so a clouded window costs sales. We recommend a window on most mochi boxes, and the rigid board outer around it keeps its form through repeated condensation cycles.

Matte lamination is the most requested, and it's standard across Japanese-influenced confectionery. Foil detail adds metallic accents on gift ranges, and kraft board suits small-batch makers.

Full CMYK lets the artwork follow each flavour. If you sell several flavours, a colour-coding system across the range helps customers find theirs in the cabinet, and we'll set up that palette with you at the artwork stage.

A 4-count box is 5 × 5 × 1.5 in and a 9-count is 7 × 7 × 1.5 in. The grid sets the footprint, so size follows the piece count and the diameter of each piece.

The shallow depth holds one layer with the lid clear of the tops. For other counts, such as six pieces in two rows, send us your piece size and we'll lay out the grid.

A new range can start at 500 boxes per design. Tiered pricing begins above 1,000, and repeat orders can scale up to 100,000.

The cavity insert is made to match the box, so both come in the same run. Brands with several flavours often keep one outer box and one tray, and carry the flavour on a printed band or label.

Production runs 7 to 10 business days from the day you sign off the proof, with rush service at 5 to 7 business days. We'd always sample a mochi box first, because the cavity fit to your pieces is the part to get right.

A mochi sample is ready in 5 to 7 business days, and what you pay for it comes back as credit on the production order.
