Dividers keep wet and crisp items apart so moisture does not migrate between them. A grazing box sits in a cabinet for most of a day, which is long enough for a damp item to soften a cracker in the next well. The compartment insert is what turns a jumble into the composed box the customer paid for.

Moulded fibre compartments hold their shape better than folded board dividers where the wells are deep.

The assortment is the proposition, so the customer has to see it before buying. A clear PET lid shows the full layout, and an anti-fog treatment keeps it clear in a chilled cabinet where an untreated lid mists over. Opaque lids are not offered on this format.

Branding, ingredients and allergens go on a printed sleeve so the lid stays uncovered.

Clay-coated board with damp strength is the base stock. A refrigerated grab-and-go cabinet is humid, and a light carton board loses stiffness at the corners over a day on display. The clay-coated surface also gives the sleeve and label a clean face to sit on.

A food-safe liner is added where items sit directly on the board.

A printed sleeve carries the brand and the mandatory text and leaves the lid clear. Full CMYK on the band gives a retail-quality print without printing the box itself, and a kraft base under it suits health and artisan positioning. Applied labels are the simple route where the assortment changes weekly.

A date code zone is left as a defined area for your coder.

Common sizes are 6 by 4 by 2 inches and 8 by 5 by 2.5 inches. The footprint is set by the cabinet facing, which is expensive shelf space, and the depth by the tallest item in the assortment. Well layouts are custom, so tell us how many components and roughly what each is.

Level tops let the boxes stack two or three high in a display.

Compartmented boxes are supplied from 500 units. The price steps down after 1,000, and a cafe with a daily grazing offer usually lands in that tier on the second order. The ceiling per production order is 100,000.

Sleeves and lids are counted with the base, so one quantity covers the whole assembly.

Standard production is 7 to 10 business days, and rush production is 5 to 7. Moulded fibre compartments on a new well layout need tooling, so allow extra at the front of a first order. Board inserts are die-cut with the base and add no time.

Samples ship in 5 to 7 business days with the fee credited to the production order.

The board base and sleeve recycle with paper, and the PET lid goes in plastic recycling once separated. Moulded fibre compartments recycle with the board. The parts pull apart by hand, which is what makes the split possible at the bin.

Kraft base stock carries recycled content where the specification allows it.
