No. The wax coating melts under heat, so this is a cold and ambient material. Warm sandwiches and burgers are fine, but hot fried food and oven use are outside its range. Paraffin can smoke in an oven, and soy wax behaves the same way.

For anything going under heat, a silicone parchment is the right sheet. Wax paper earns its place at the deli counter and the cold case, where it is the cheapest coated paper there is.

Paraffin is the traditional coating and the cheaper one. Soy wax is plant-derived and composts better. Both give the same moisture barrier and release at ambient temperature, and neither survives an oven. Soy adds a little to the sheet cost and lets the pack carry a compostable mark where wax and base stock are certified together.

If the sheet is unseen interleaving, paraffin is the sensible choice. If it wraps a product customers hold, soy supports a natural positioning.

Choose by how it is dispensed at the counter. Pre-cut sheets at 12 by 10.75 inches suit sandwich wrapping and deli interleaving, where staff pull one at a time. Rolls up to 18 inches wide suit lining baskets and trays, or wrapping items of uneven size.

Bleached stock prints brighter and unbleached kraft hides marks and reads artisan. Both are food-contact grade.

Most runs are flexo in one or two colours, using low-migration inks rated for direct food contact. A repeating all-over pattern is the practical choice, because it reads the same however the sheet is folded around the food. Classic checks and stripes still sell well for delis and diners.

Full CMYK is possible on bleached stock where photographic print is wanted. Plain unprinted sheets cover interleaving that nobody sees.

Sheets are measured flat, length by width, and cut to whatever your wrap or basket needs. The stock size is 12 by 10.75 inches, which wraps a standard sandwich or burger with an overlap for folding. Rolls run to 18 inches wide and are cut to length by the operator.

Printed wax paper starts at 500 units, whether that is sheets or rolls. Tiered rates kick in above 1,000, and we produce up to 100,000 in a single run. Because the sheet is low-cost to begin with, most operators order well past the minimum to bring the print cost down.

Unprinted stock follows the same threshold.

Wax paper does not recycle with ordinary paper, because the coating contaminates the pulp stream. Soy wax on an unbleached base composts well, and where the wax and the stock are certified together the sheet can carry a compostable marking. Paraffin-coated sheet is best treated as general waste.

If the disposal claim matters to your brand, specify soy on kraft from the start rather than switching later.
